Interesting real-world C6 Z06 MPG data
Discussion
Mine never ceases to amaze. 600 mile round trip on Thursday/Friday, perfect drive on the way out, with regular 90 mph cruising and a few blasts well over that. Return drive was stop/start nose-to-tail for at least 90 minutes of motorway crawl. 24.8 US. 30 mpg UK, near as.
Then you get the tossers on some of the forums here complaining about push-rod engines, BMW this/Merc that/Audi the other, and how technologically advanced they are, when they struggle to get near the HP we enjoy, with twice the complexity and less mileage. Not to mention reliability, minimal maintenance, maximum life...I could go on, and often do.
Sorry; preaching to the converted...

Couldn't agree more! Lay-people also don't realise how much advanced material technology goes into the Z06, either... it might be a pushrod, 2 valve motor, but it also has titanium rods and an alloy block, not to mention the body with its carbon wings and the aluminium/magnesium chassis

It is good on a cruise, although 25 US mpg is a struggle in my '08 C6 auto if there's significant stop-start. Watch out if you're doing the maths on the trip computer though... I've found a 15% uplift to the trip (rather than 20% you'd expect based on gallon sizes) matches my brim-to-brim consumption. Very odd, but 100% consistent. Then you get the tossers on some of the forums here complaining about push-rod engines, BMW this/Merc that/Audi the other, and how technologically advanced they are, when they struggle to get near the HP we enjoy, with twice the complexity and less mileage.
