Discussion
Amazing find today on Auto Trader this car must go up in value as GM never made a ZR1 on the C5.....
You can also see on Auto trader another dealer selling the same car for £200 more!! he must have seen the Value in this ZR1 that was never made too!

I was offered this car in the trade 12 mths ago,if I recall correctly, for around £14500, too dear then !
It's been for sale in Lancs since then for £17k ( I think) £20k and now £19980 !.
I was offered it again on Monday this week, dealer left a message on my landline, didn't bother trying my mobile.
I phoned him when I got home only to be told it had already gone. I have been waiting to see where it would resurface !!
All this does is distort the market with unrealistic pricing. Ho Hum !

Seen the latest ?? Now up at £24,880 on Auto Trader. I've checked their website and it's the same price on there so not a misprint. Still £19,880 on their ebay advert though
I saw this first about a week ago with one of the 2 "dealers" in Lancashire that were advertising it and it was £18,000. I was vaguely interested as I quite fancy getting a Corvette again, and I'm thinking of replacing my M3 with a C5 some time in the future. Anyway, this one caught my eye as I like the look of it (wheels, black roof, bigger bonnet bulge etc.) But £18K is too much, should be no more than £14-£15K max looking at prices generally, so I didn't make any enquiries. Then up at £20K, now at £25K
There just has to be something dodgy going on here. I don't think I'd be interested even if it dropped to £10K now, as I have to wonder if these "dealers" are just a bunch of chancers and wide boys given their constantly varying price of this car. I wouldn't want to buy a car like this (or any car TBH) from a dealer I suspected as being dodgy, and these guys are hardly recognised in the Corvette scene, so they can't trade on a reputation as a recognised specialist. Shame really, as it does look nice and if it's up together it deserves to be enjoyed by someone, but in the hands of clowns like these I suspect it will languish in the trade, unused and unloved, for a very long time until someone eventually wakes up and sells it at a knock down price just to shift it on.

My sentiments exactly, as I have already stated, I was offered this car in the trade over a year ago, it may not have had an "owner" in at least that time.Irresponsible pricing distorts the Corvette market and is in danger of stalling it at present. Real world values ( values cars actually are changing hands for) are 20-25% less than the majority of asking prices..
C5 ZR1 - yeah right!
The crying shame about any car like this is that some mug will be taken in by the sellers BS "facts" and a £50 wash/wax/vac and after not bothering to do any basic research by asking a few general questions on forums like this, part with great lumps of his hard earn't.
Then he'll turn-up at a car/Vette meet talk to a few guys and only then realise he's paid over the top
Now for sale on ebay with someone called "Thistle Cars" in Lancashire at a whopping £24,995
C5 on ebay
The seller states that it has the ZS1 suspension upgrade, the car has wing badges stating this but of course they show Z51 not ZS1, so clearly this latest trader is a long way from knowledgeable about Corvettes and can't be bothered to do any research.
Apparently, the C5 was given "amazing praise" by Jeremy Clarkson when it was released, which isn't what I remember as I thought he hated it as he does most Vettes (latest ZR1 excepted IIRC). Also, first to see will buy according to the seller, but I would think that's only because anyone who goes to the bother of viewing it at that price will be a moron who never does any research but buys cars because they look nice!
At least £10K over valued, maybe more, and seemingly doing the rounds of all the traders in Lancashire in a desperate bid to get an unrealistic price, very iffy IMHO. Such a shame as it has nice mileage and I think it looks good, I might even have found it hard to resist if the price was what it should be and the car checked out OK.

He reckons those repro C6 Z06 rims cost over £5,000, lol.
Does make me laugh when these chancers vastly over-value bits... it's so obvious to anyone with a grain of common sense really. Like folks who try to flog a car with a private plate that's actually worth a few hundred quid, yet they claim in the ad the plate is worth thousands.
