Hi

Has anyone managed to get the factory nav system on a euro model C6 or Z06 to have an ipod or aux input? All the add ons available seem to be for the model with XM radio, apparently they only work if you have a BAND button.

I would love to trash the CD's rolling around in my glove box!

Any replied greatly appreciated

thanks

When I looked into it you could only do it if you had the xm radio option so a non euro spec car. Always seemed odd that the more expensive Nav option did not have an Aux jack.

When I got my C6 I looked into this. Apparently, the only way to do it is to fit an FM transmitter (they're a specific one that fits into the central bin, which you slot your iPxxx or AUX into), at least that's what Stratstone told me a few years ago. Think it was about £250....believe it was Auto Audio at Park Royal. http://www.autoaudio.uk.com/home.php

Hope that helps.

There is an OEM CD changer but I have never seen one. I have no idea how you would manipulate that for an iPod connector. Your problem is that nobody in the US really has tho problem due to the XM Radio so nobody manufactures a kit to help. We have the same problem with Cadillac CTS and Escalade as Bluetooth is built into OnStar but no Euro spec cars have it. Getting a kit to perform a full mute is almost impossible.....

I just use an FM transmitter that I plug into the 12v acc jack and dock my iPod to that and tune the radio to it. Works well enough.

I recall on the 08 CTS that Cadillac were selling a Nokia bluetooth kit as a aftermarket option not sure if any ever had one installed?

Stratstone arranged for me a solution with Auto Audio - wired in, listenable on an FM frequency (but not broadcasting - the wiring gave the sound). I had a bracket for the ipod attached to the dash so I could control it using its own buttons. I can find a picture or two if anyone would like them.

At the time I spent absolutely ages hunting the web for a better solution, but in the end I was happy enough as it worked well.

car95's set up was common.
I have seen the OEM CD changer, but Euro cars are missing the wiring loom and it is not available as a separate part.

The other solution is to ditch the Bose set-up and install a separate amp and new speakers, then have the ipod wired in to the audio circuit between the head unit/sat nav and the amplifier.
Auto Audio did this with another Z06, installing a very neat rotary controller just in front of the arm rest. This was definitely the nicest sounding set up I heard in a C6, but seem to recall that the Morel speakers and Genesis amp added about £4k to the bill...

It's worth having a chat with Greg or Simon at Auto Audio to see if they have any newer solutions, as they frequently see US built vehicles.

Thanks for the replies! Its a shame an aftermarket unit wont integrate into the HUD, If I could do this it would be gone!
