With the goal of making the shifter easier to use I made this change to my Z06. It is a giant improvment, greatly decreases the effort needed to put the shifter into the 1-2 gate and equalizes the force required to go into all gates.

It is essentially free.

If the link doesn't work search anti-venom 6 speed modification.

It is a bit of concern that the copper washer old give more clearance to a component inside the gearbox. Until you know what part of the gearbox your giving clearance too, I wouldn't be doing it.

There are two mechanisms that provide centering action to the shifter, This modification decreases the preload of a small spring that centers the shifter in the middle gate. I know what it does because I disassembled a transaxle to find out how this works.

This will have no other effect on the transaxle other than decreasing the spring pre-load.

Cheers
