I did ask this question about 10 months ago, but needed to sell the current car. The Elise has now found a new owner, so I have the money burning a hole in my pocket.

So is there anyone on PH who is thinking off selling there Z06, could you please drop me a PM. Or if anyone knows a good one that is for sale please guide me in the right direction.

Budget is 35-40k. I would like to be nearer to 35k but could push the budget for the right car. But 40K is the limit. Euro spec or American import is fine. Colour isn't a great importance, but not overly keen on white or yellow. Model year is also not a great concern nor is mileage. Just a nice clean car with good traceable history.

Last time I was pointed in the direction of the German Corvette forum, so I'll be having a look around there.

Thanks all.

I will probably be selling mine, but not until end of this year or into next year. To be fair, compared to an Elise, these things are the size of an aircraft carrier. Forget any idea of press-on driving on B roads or country lanes. Mines got a few suspension & brake mods and off to Spa with it in May.

I see you are in Bucks. I'm in Northants, not so far away. You're welcome to have a look and a ride in mine sometime.

There is a black 2007, 19000+ miles goin for £38,000 in the classifieds,
from a place called Class Autos in the Peterborough area.
Might be worth a look, they seem to do some nice motors.
Cannot vouch for em tho.

Dave.

Thanks for the kind offer. I've got a fair idea what Z06 will be like as I drove a regular c6 over in the states. I was impressed.

The reason for getting shot of the Elise is the state of the A/B roads around Bucks. They're littered with pot holes and it started to be a real chore taking the Elise out for a drive. So I want to go back to having something a lot less track focused. I know I'm really going to miss the Elise but I just couldn't live with it any longer. Also fuel is never going to be getting any cheaper so now is the time to get into a large displacement V8.

Thanks Dave, I had spotted that. I'd enquired about another Z06 they where importing. It was still in the states at the time. I would much prefer not to go for a brand new import and if possible buy the car off it's owner and not a dealer. Then again I would buy one of Mitch_'s cars. But there doesn't seem to be anything within budget there.

I too will be looking at getting a Z06 in the next couple of months. I am just about to put my C6 up for sale. So if anyone is thinking of parting with a black Z06 drop me an e-mail.

Whilst not wanting to cast a shadow on anyone's trading practices I am confused by 'Class Autos' regardless of the fact I find their name an afront to good taste.... wink The prices they are offering their Z06's at don't seem possible given the values Z06's are selling for in the U.S., unless you chose not to pay VAT or Duty or both. The other possibility is that the cars may have unpleasant history in the U.S. so I would suggest you get a VIN from them and run it by me. Preparation is a big issue with a Z06, they're not like old C5's that have little to no maintenance requirement. The Red Z06 we have for sale had over £7,000 spent with us to put it into the mechanical condition it is now whilst the white Ron Fellows car has had a new clutch at a cost of nearly £3,000.

What you think you may save on the front end may cost you more on the back end. On a last note I have a running pattern of valuing US spec cars at £5,000 less than Euros as this is the cost of re-registering one in Germany, the largest Corvette market in Europe, though it can cost much more for other countries including France and Belgium.

If you want to discuss any of our cars with me then you are more than welcome.

Agree with Mitch on this one the old addage "if something appears to be too good then it probably is" applies here. The car is wearing a Virginia dealer tag, it appears to have fully US spec lighting so my guess is that if the car is in UK then you are going to be looking at all of the costs of IVA etc. plus possibly shipping, duty, vat etc. before you get to see the car.

Car looks straight and they say they have an autocheck on the VIN but if the car is still in the USA then you know how it is.

I'd ask for pictures of the car here, also want to see proof of import duties paid, IVA testing, a copy of the V5 etc. if they are saying that the £38k is the asking price.

I saw that car too. The maths don't seem to add up somewhere along the line.

I am in a similar postion to the original poster where I have an itch I need to scratch, but would be selling my E30 M3 to do it. Similar to the elise, the M3 and a Z06 could probably be considered polar opposites, just wondering if it would be a step to far as the Z06 would be required to perform a little track duty.

I also can't see how Classic Autos are going to make any margin on the sale of that Z06. The other one they offered last year was for sale at 36K in the email they say "£36k thats all in Inc. Car,shipping,Vat,IVA test,uk registered". Also from the emails,it did sound like they had a good few they could import. Cars where located in Dallas Texas, If the car was a bit closer to me I might have popped over to take a look, as they state in the ad the car is in the UK.

When I looked into a personal import I would have struggled to import a lower end of the market Z06 and get it all legal in the UK for the price they're asking.

I do hope a Z06 comes up for sale soon, Maybe they'll be some that come up for sale in the spring.

I too am an old E30 M3 owner. And the Z06 is more of a track biased c
ar then any Vette before it. Ive tracked this......

My C6.With the Z51 package. And i have to say i was more than impressed by the handling and the performance. It felt more compliant than my previous TVR Cerbera. And that was a well sorted car.

I missed a lovely one this week, 08 registered z06 in victory red, uk car bought new from bauer millett, 1200 (yep 1200) miles by it's 1 owner and it was up for £36k in alexander autos scotland. I have used Billy for servicing in the past so rang him last monday morning, checked my finances were all in place, rang back after lunch with my 1k deposit and it was gone.

The next day an immaculate late model G wagen popped up at my local mercedes garage, always a car on my dream garage list and fairly depreciation proof so I bought it and the Z can wait till next year.

It was a car we supplied new, but I ought to point out that it was an 06MY car and US spec. I don't think it was cheap, rather it was worth the money. Interestingly the previous owner never returned the car to us for the roof delamination recall. I am lead to believe its new owner didn't make it all the way home.....

Whilst not trying to get carried away with myself I can now reveal that a mystery has been uncovered. A certain retailer of used cars on this website has been advertising Z06's at a price that I simply could not understand, but they have now advertised a 2005 C6. Showing as a '54' registration this car was registered in the U.K. in July of last year and as it now has a UK registration I have tracked its VIN on the GM Vehicle Identity System. I think I now why their Z06's are so cheap..........

On an unconnected note I would just like to say JUNK!

The mileage seems rather dubious to me. The wear on the drivers seat and the slight sag in the bolsters doesn't, correspond with a car that's done that mileage. My car has done 18,000 and the seats are like brand new.

You're probably right...although anecdotal evidence is the seat bolsters can wear and sag within a few thousand miles with larger American drivers squeezing in and out...

You can find that the wear rate increases when they have a constant stream of bodyshop technicians climbing in and out of them....... wink

Oh dear. By the sounds of that post. Then the car has had a past in the states.
