That looks decent value at £35k, so let's play "spot the bargain"!
1998 official UK pricing
Porsche 911 = 65,000
Corvette = £39,000
BMW M3 = £38,000
Camaro V8 = £23,000
2012 official UK pricing
Porsche 911 = £72,000 (up 11%)
Corvette = £60,000 (up 50%)
BMW M3 = £55,000 (up 45%)
Camaro V8 = £35,000 (up 50%)

I often find people's reactions to things intriguing and this is a case in point. Chevrolet UK put in alot of work to get the price of Camaro where it is, afterall you can't bring a car in from the US for less, let alone have a three year warranty and roadside assistance to boot. The values of them will be robust with them having access to a COC enabling their free movement around Europe too. I guess I am surprise that when presented with a car at the right money, right spec and all the back-up that you would expect from such a car that the focus turns to 'ugly' wing mirrors and taillights that are a requirement of European law.... Am I wrong for wanting to focus on positive things rather than the negative all the time?
A. I think they look fantastic
B. £35k IS CHEAP!!! What's a matter with you guys?
C. It's less that I was paying for my new TVR's in the ninetees and I can betcha the Cammy will be a damn site more reliable. In fact just to underline just how well priced it really is, I could, as an alternative, by a new TVR Griff for example off some madman in Russia for £95k !!!! Don't even go there.
D. I can see myself in one of those can't you Rob?

£35K is value for anything like this with a 3 year warranty too. If you look at something like an Insignia VXR is around the same price! And who really cares about LHD if you can drive a car who cars one side you sit on.
It looks the part and you can finally get one here offically I think we are lucky to even get the car here.

Worth mentioning that that is the US car - not a Euro one (mirrors).B. £35k IS CHEAP!!! What's a matter with you guys?

Personally I've been following this car since 2006 and have been pestering Chevy for a UK release date for at least 2 years (and was at Goodwood with them). I'm in two minds... I love the car, but I think a US one would make more sense from a "parts" point of view in the future. However, a UK warranty would be nice too... but then, I would like the ZL1.. arg!!!
I'm not sure if this will happen again, but last year at the FoS Chevy had a Euro-spec car there - with the mirrors and rear lights (which look great). Hopefully the same will happen this year too! I'd be tempted to move the Monaro on for one - although I'm torn on that or a second-hand AMV8.

You are, of course, correct.. we should be thankful the car is coming at all Hmm. I think that's good value. People forget that VAT is now 20% not 15%, we have relatively high inflation and the exchange rate is poor.....
As for the mirrors, yeah they're not nice. Neither are the ones on Euro vettes but if it bothers you so much replace them with US mirrors. I'm sure they'll fit. If they are a simple bolt on swap (I know you lose the repeaters), perhaps Mitch should stock some;)

There is very little difference between the US and Euro spec cars. The rear lamps are now used in the US too, so the main differences are the headlight beam direction and mirrors. Besides, they're brand new so I wouldn't be worrying about parts prices just yet!Personally I've been following this car since 2006 and have been pestering Chevy for a UK release date for at least 2 years (and was at Goodwood with them). We have easy supply of the mirrors having already replaced a couple. The one downside of the US mirror is that it does not fold, so in the cases where they impact something they tend to just break.....

I like the new mirrors like the Vette includes the side repeater so no drill holes in the wings. And the new led rear lights look great too.We have easy supply of the mirrors having already replaced a couple.
