Discussion
This really is what the new C7 is going to look like, so count me in... (Pending it being SENSIBLE money of course).

Hardly revealed Martin. They are mock-ups from Jalopnik.
What do you think constitutes a 'sensible' price for a sports car with a 500bhp entry model?
REVEALED = Attention grabbing Headlines dear chap!!What do you think constitutes a 'sensible' price for a sports car with a 500bhp entry model?
RHD >£100k, pending big steps in improvement to interior build fit and finish. LHD ? - to sell in numbers over here? <£70k, which with the current exchange rate, it ain't gonna happen. A great shame because that's the only way I would step back into a new Vette and more so give a real alternative to the Porker, fast Audi & BMW brigade, let alone used Ferrari, Masser., etc.

In 1998 a BMW M3 cost the same as a Vette and and that was about 2/3rds the price of a 911.
2012 - M3 - £55k
2012 - 911 - £72k
If any Vettes are actually going to get sold in UK this looks like the target zone. Roughly the same price range as Lotus Evora.

(Rare that we actually agree on something Steve. Must be the new year....!)
Yep, fundamentally the price needs to be perceived as "reasonable". Which really means relative to 911, M3, etc - if it costs the same as a 911 in the US, where it needs to succeed, then fair enough if it costs the same as a 911 over here...but somehow we all know it'll cost 2/3 the cost of a 911 in the US but the same as a 911 over here.
Don't get me wrong, I'd have a Vette over a 911 any day of the week, but I also wouldn't spend £80K on a daily driver. I guess that means I'm not (and probably have never been) in the target demographic (either for the UK or the US) as most are sold as toys, and I'm sure GM won't miss one sale every 6 or 7 years.

Pricing is typically incremental when a new generation of any car arrives. Based on prices we can order standard C6 I would put that at £60k or there abouts at a guess. The difficulty is that the C7 is benchmarked on a performance and power level against the C6 Z06 from what I can gather. It is also unlikely that they will continue te grand Sport concept so what models there are after that I have no idea.....
M3 is old hat now, when you get a new one you will get your benchmark. It's worth mentioning that given everything that ga happened prices of vettes haven't risen as you would expect. List of a Z06 was £62,000 in 2006. Now six years later it's £80,000. Given GM's policy of annual price increases of 3-5% this isn't far off the mark given our currency's devaluation.
I'm really sorry about my next comment though because clearly taking two A-Levels in Maths has made me a pedant but 55 is actually 76% of 72, not 2/3's.....sorry....

Ha Ha!!
Z06 now £80k? May I shoudl have kept mine. Now where's that bloke's number I sold it to?
I recall the Ron fellows Z06 selling at £65k at Stratstone at the time selling all 5 of them at the time.Z06 now £80k? May I shoudl have kept mine. Now where's that bloke's number I sold it to?
At even in 05 i remember somebody I know paying just over £50k for C6 manual Coupe! in LMB
Prices have moved on everywhere hell I have an Astra est in the showroom for £21k and it has wheel covers on it!! Cars have gone up I think the used market will always find buyers and the new cars will be left for owners who just want to be in the first of something new.
As for the C7 it will always find buyers, Even the Nissan GTR have rocketed up in price too.

I could say I'd done a complex calculation based on discounted drive-away prices...but I'd just plucked a number out of thin air to make a point! Good to see someone else suffered Maths and Further Maths GW65 said:

Ahhhh Pure Maths, Statistics, Mechanics, Numerical Computation and Numerical Analysis. I'm so pleased I spent two years of my life studying how to solve 'unsolveable' equations. I vividly recall the last time I used any of it as it was in an exam! Doh! Why am I in the motor-trade again?LuS1fer said:
I have posted this before but to my eyes, it looks like a GTR and I don't like the looks of the GTR. However, I'll reserve judgement for the real thing.
Side view (towards rear) I can see that too. The rest no. Priced pretty much the same too accept the wheel is on the correct side for UK. mitch_ said:

I'd wager a lot more Vettes were sold in UK in 2006 than will be sold in 2012, unfortunately. mitch_ said:

Call me Carol Vorderman if you like, but back in 1998 £40k was 2/3rds of £60k. Since then base 911 has risen by 20% to £72k and price of Corvette has risen by 50% even before the new model arrives. Hmmmm.Gassing Station | Corvettes | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
