Could anyone tell me which Optima battery would be right
for a C6 Z06, have had a red top previously for my C5 Z06,
which i thought was spot on, think it was the RTU 4.2.

Would this be ok for the Z06 ?

Also as a side note, would I have to match the fobs back
to the car if I changed their batteries as well (have changed one then checked
the book and cannot find anything about fob learning etc)

Dave

You shouldn't need to do any re-learning if you change fob batteries (based on having changed a couple in 2008-onwards fobs).

Optima RTU 4.2 is the correct one, unfortunately, I bought one recently at great expense and now realize that it will not fit as it's one inch to tall (supercharger cooling tank sits above the battery) so will be selling the battery in due course.

it had and how much for it ?

Yes, same with my 1999. I think you are supposed to get the new battery in reasonably quickly to ensure no programming gets lost in between.

Just fitted an Optima Yellow Top deep cycle last week, as the Halfrauds battery that came with the car was as dead as a dead thing. It wouldn't even open the boot. I fitted a D34, which is slightly taller than stock, and the leads have to be pulled through a little. The retaining strap needs to be persuaded as well, but the battery is a tight fit, so won't move too far; D35 might fit better, as it's slightly shorter and narrower, but has less power.

Experience with Optima proves, to me at least, that you won't buy better. I've got a Red Top (originally fitted to my C5 Z06 years ago) slung under the floor in my ratty Chevy, and it fires up instantly, despite not being touched for weeks and weeks. Never even toppped up the charge.

Some handy info here...
