Hello,

I'm thinking of buying a sportscar, and the corvette C5 is on top of my list.
But there are a few things i was wondering.
I'm also going to use the car as a trackday car. About 10 times in a year.
Can a standard '99 C5 handle this? And if needed what modifications are needed so it will keep reliable?

The other cars that are on my mind:
- BMW E46 M3
- Porsche 986 boxster S
- Mitsu EVO 7
- Porsche 996 carrera

I own a 1999 C5 and don't consider it suitable for track work. It's very much designed and built as a road car.

The bare minimum work needed would be complete replacement of the brakes and suspension. Even then it's still quite a big heavy car to put on track. So put at the simplest, I wouldn't start from here!

Hi
If you speak to the guys that run the race schools around the ring they say the e46 m3 is a very good car They will say change the seats get better suspension and improve front brakes They also recommend the smg gearbox as it does not make the mistake of changing down to many gears unlike people!

A C5 is a good choice as a starting point for a track car but needs the following upgrades.

Brakes, coilover shocks and I'd go for bigger swaybars and poly bushes for the suspension.

You should also ditch the drivers seat and fit a racing bucket.
