I recently had a set of Pirelli PZero runflats fitted to my C6. Very happy with the tyres...except one of the fronts was losing pressure fast (about 2-3 psi per day). Had it checked out, and the leak was due to the TPMS sensor grommet being well and truly knackered. Of course, the tyre-fitters didn't hold them in stock...and it appears that nobody else does either! A temporary fix with liquid rubber lasted for a few days but the leaks been getting worse since, to the extent that it was losing about 1 psi every 2 hours....and trust me, it's a pain in the butt putting air in a tyre twice a day!

At the same time as doing the temporary fix, I ordered a set of grommets from BM which arrived today, 2 weeks after ordering (which to be fair was the expectation that was set) and I've had the knackered grommet replaced. To be on the safe side - I was getting desperate! - I also ordered a set from AVS last week, which should arrive tomorrow (a week after ordering).

I've now got a good stash of grommets which I may never need again, but would recommend them as a good stocking filler for anyone with a C6 - they do seem to split/fail on the C6 (based on my experience and anecdotes from the US) and it's a real pain when they do...

Part number is 25754190. (And brace yourselves, they're the best part of £4 each over here...).

Typically the grommets last the lifetime of the pressure sensors themselves. We've had to stop stocking them now as GM has changed the design of its TPM sensors. You've been fortunate to get away with just the grommets as most tyre fitters just seem to snap them in half!

Don't say that Mitch, I'll have to get some spare TPMS sensors for Christmas now smile (Who said I'm paranoid?)

Most never heard of using a torque wrench for TPMS valve cores and nuts.

GM torque specification for valve cores is 4 in lb (0.45 Nm).

Valve stem nut torque 62 inch-lbs (7 Nm).
