Clutch fluid

I need to start cleaning the fluid in the reservior as it's a pretty nasty colour (the syringe method). The US guide mentions GM super dot 4 fluid or Prestone fluid. Do I have to use those or is any DOT 4 going to be OK to combine with what is already in there? Thanks folks. (C6 Z06 of course).

If you're going to change fluids you really need to flush the system. We are using Castrol SRF on all the new clutches we fit.
