I want to get back into a Vette (I need HUD in my life...). My old C5 Z06 was the best all-round car I've had by far. Sold it and had a Roush Mustang for a few years, and now in a Camaro SS, but missing that Vette feeling. I'm hoping to view the red Z06, previously mentioned on here, in the next week or so. There has also been discussion around the black one on eBay, which I may go and view.

Before I invest much time and mileage in running around the far reaches of the UK, is anyone contemplating off-loading theirs? No rush; I love the Camaro, and can happily run it for months to come, but if anyone is considering a change, please let me know. We may be able to come to some arrangement. 2008 MY seems to be favourite, but I'm not averse to an older one if that's what's on offer. £40-45k is ballpark upper end.

The red car on Pistonheads is a good one. I viewed that myself. It has a cam which many on here warned me off but it sounds fantastic. Immaculate all over and covered about 300 miles in the last 3 years. The black one is about 2 miles from me. I viewed it and wasn't crazy impressed at the price. Still a nice car though. Happy hunting.

Thanks Niall; I'll go and view both, but was a little concerned over the diff issue in the red one, if that's the one referred to in your thread of a few weeks ago. I believe the C6 has a transaxle, as in the C5, so a diff replacement/repair is doubtless a little more involved than normal. Won't hurt to have a look, anyway.

How are you liking yours? Is the Z worth the premium over the base C6? I can only go by previous experience with the C5.

The diff thing was nothing at all. I used the Carfax report to chase down the dealer who worked on the car and it was just a small leak - a common problem apparently. All sorted now.

C6 = good car. Z = a force of nature. No contest. Buy one.

Are you getting down to the Red Lion Margaretting for the Essex CCCUK meting next Wednesday Macky17? - if its dry I should be there in my '68 - I'm looking for some competition, no point having a ZO6 if you ain't gonna flaunt it and try and show some early cars the way forward !!!!!!!

Would that be the not-Z06 C6 painted in 'Unsellable White'? wink

So unsellable I've ordered a 2012 Z06 and a ZR-1 in exactly the same colour! That is the car. For what it's worth it's previous owner was a CCCUK owner and I believe it won Best C6 at the CCCUK Nationals in 2010.

Mitch, if you know of, or hear of, a Z06 for sale, please point them in my direction. I've got around £40k to spend. Ta!

I have a list of close to 10 people who are after the same thing but I will make sure to do so as and when. The number of Z06's I have personal knowledge of is getting very small now and there are a number of them I would just avoid......

I guess it would be unethical to ask which ones you'd avoid? Quite a short list, given that I can only think of two that are on the market, and have been for a while?

I have no personal knowledge of either. I have heard some tales of condition regarding one which had been viewed by a gentleman I was talking to at the CCCUK Nationals. There are a couple that I know of that are not for sale but have had harder pasts is what I was getting at.

Can you be more specific about what you want

i.e. Euro Spec / US Import
Mileage
Exterior Colour / Interior
Options

etc.

The reason I ask is if you want a 2006 US Import with less than 30k miles it is possible at the moment to buy one in the USA and ship it, pay the duty, VAT, IVA etc. and it would cost about £40k.

Wow, forty grand for an early ZO6. Nice to see prices have held steady then. Maybe I should have held on to mine a little longer. Losing £5k in a year and a half I was pleased with considering the car was early fiftees in 2009 when I bought it.

Ade I'm considering selling mine (LMB '06), but likewise no rush. The biggest problem is working out what to replace it with - no other sports car has anything like the same size boot!

Oldest rule of economics, supply and demand, currently no supply and keen demand so prices are being kept up even for the older cars.

Didn't take long to make up my mind; a quick blast up the road confirmed it.

Collect next week. Roll on!
