My C6 Z06 was due for an Oil Change back at BM's at 4k since a 'major Service' as I can't afford the time at the minute.... I pressed on my self...There is a decent Video on YouTube ...so I sourced a PF48 Oil filter and 8 Liters of Mobil1 5w-30 Full Synthetic Oil. I had two plastic oil Drainage Containers ...Jacked the car up and lowered her gently onto a 6 X 2 Timber placed across the front 'X' Member onto two Axle stands to 'protect' myself and un-did the 2 X 15mm oil Plugs and taped a 'hole' in the filter with a big nail to allow the most of it to drain finally removing it....I then jacked the back up [about 6" higher than the front] with the Bigger of my 2 trolly Jacks and left her to Drain whilst I had Lunch....I then filled the new filter to near the top and smeared the 'O' ring and put it on about 3/4 of a turn past meeting up with resistance. put the two drain plugs back in to 18ft/lb and dropped her....finally pouring in 8 liters of Oil [into the Dry Sump!]...Fired her up expecting a slight Clatter on 'start up'....it 'Purred' instantly into life! Excellent now I need to get the Manual out to turn the 'Change the Engine Oil' Message off the DIC

Sounds like you got a Good one Niall......I was reading your Posts and thinking that's the way I felt about mine ....and Still do! 2 years later...I joined CCCUK and go to the monthly meets up here [There was 8 Vettes at the last one 2 of which where C6 Z06's mine and 'Akeith' Black one]
I have done a fair bit of Home Mechanics on my 3 fitting Baer Eradispeed Big Brakes all round on the C5 Z06..... Lowering it and the C6 ...Modding the Flappy Paddle on the Auto to give 6 upshifts on the right and 6 down on the left....and other assorted Goodies like a B&M Shifter..... CAG's Eliminators on both manual cars [to give you all 6 Gears not skip from 1st to 4th a low speeds....Bit of a Home Mechanic now Niall.....and this job went Pit Pat....! anyway where are the Pictures of your Beast?

Wow, I definitely don't have the skills to attempt any of that. Impressive. As for the 1st to 4th thing, it hardly ever kicks in with me. Wonder why biggrin

Pics at the weekend, provided it finally stops raining down here and allows me to polish it.

If you've done all this, do you really need to work out how to cancel the "Change Oil" message on the DIC? Or, am I missing a private joke?

Textbook oil change except you forgot to change the drain plug oil seals.

Only difference I did was I had an oil filter wrench for removing it whilst still full of oil and I would then tip it out into the drip tray.

Think it's button 4 from the top you go to the Oil Percentage Left display and then push the reset button and it should reset to about 99% don't think it ever showed 100% for me. I used to change the oil every time it got down to about 10% life left, so about 9,000 miles but then mine did a lot of miles so the time in the car was not an issue.

It wouldn't be 'Reset' would it 'Bowler' LOL ....anyway she's running like a Swiss Watch....Superb!
I used a 'chain' Filter Wrench to break the Grip on Oil Filter ....thought it was a Good Idea to Pop a Hole in it and allow it to Drain first....seemed to work well and the other idea I picked up was to fill it before fitting it....whether it was my imagination ....it started as if fully Lubed....whereas in the past I have heard a millisecond or two of 'clattering' on other Motors.
Aye and your right I used the original Seals but they where only 4 thousand miles old LOL
