Haven't posted here in ages but here goes (sorry cut and paste of my own post on EvoForum).

OK I now have a Summons...

To explain, was caught doing 100mph (Laser) on a nice open stright (clear weather etc) on a North Yorkshire B road, i was overtaking 2 cars... Policeman was behind a bush... pulled over, Producer and NIP issued...

Any advice welcome, am reading the Jedi thread, but think I'm in worse schtuck...

I need a character witness (easy he thinks), cannot afford a solicitor, (I'm a student), but will be looking into legal aid / duty solicitors if either can help...

Hard luck. I can't really advise you.

I also live in North yorkshire, and occasionally get to stretch the legs of the chimaera - can you let me know where they caught you?

The only good news is that there are no fixed camera in North Yorkshire, but that's no compensation.

I'm not from up there, was passing through... So I have the expense of getting there too...

B1249 near Foxholes... he was in a filling station on a nice long straight... really one of best overtaking opportunities on the road.

Cheers.

Oops. You could always try and convince their worships that you had consumed a very bad curry and that it was getting past the tortoise stage! It worked for Alex Ferguson when he was caught on the M6 trying to get back to MUFC. Might help if you are a premiership manager otherwise you may be using shanks`s for the next few months.

Another question...

I need a character reference... will look into this properly but: Is this someone who has to come to court, or do they just need to write a nice letter?

100 in a 60 ... I'd have half expected you to be walking for a month or so, did they comment along those lines?

Tough luck to get done though, anyway.

I'd have thought limit plus 40mph, that 6 points is a result. What did you do or say to get just that?

Slightly O/T; As for the original reason for the speeding, when I picked up my motor from the previous owner, just out side of York, he had one last blast with me in it, 110/120 down b roads he obviously knew well, because I was siting there in the passenger seat thinking to my self 70 max must be something in the Yorkshire air my lud.
Now I've had the motor a little while I can say of you getting caught speeding, there for the grace of god go I (and some)

Yup, was told to fully expect a ban... really on the boundary, but had a few arguments up my sleeve, and had the good luck of an amazing Duty Solicitor... he put things across very well... women from CPS (or wherever, prosicution) fluffed details like where I was etc... which didn't help her cause... she also helped by pointing out the good weather, visibility, and low traffic for us...

All in all, could of been a lot worse... a lot.
