Now the sun is out it seems like the roads are clogged up with cops 'n speed traps more then ever.
So, time to invest in a little protection I think.
Can anyone recommend a good laser jammer?
I read the Blinder was a good one. Ideally one that is undetectable itself ...
Cheers,
Simon.

I've got a pair of the Snooper SLD920's (a UK manufactured Blinder) and they seem to do the job just fine. Having said that, I'm on my 3rd pair now after the first lot didn't work at all, and the second failed recently. Look a lot better made than the other option which was Laser Echo 850. The SLD920 come in pairs each housed in an nice matt black aluminium enclosure. Despite putting 20k on the clock of my car on the M-way, no stones even scratched the IR-transparent covers on the front. Sweet.

No, didn't find out the hard way, fortunately. The first set didn't work from new - they sounded a ten second initialisation beep, instead of three, they were replaced under warranty. The next set lasted until about two months ago (14 months or so) and then started to false heavily (going off at random times). These too have been replaced under warranty. Just fitted my new set, but haven't wired them in yet as I need to extend the loom slightly.
You will find that the units will false when heading into a low evening sun, and quite often when sat behind cars that have a bright LED brake lights. Despite the fact that the LIDAR units use an IR LASER unit, there's obviously a component frequency of these LED brake lights that's the same and triggers the SLD920's off. I normally get on average, one false every 4-8 weeks, but it was getting to one every 5 minutes when the units went duff.
On the upside, I looked at the Laser Echo 850 and build quality doesn't look on the same planet as the nice matt black SLD920's. Those IR-transparent lenses on the 920's are tougher than they look, I expect they're polycarbonate or some such, and consequently take impacts from bugs and stones very well - the same material as headlamp protectors...!

The results from evaluation reports I have read on both systems indicate that the SLD920 is perhaps a better bet over the LE850. This is due simply to the ability of the 920 to defeat the anti-jammer functionality that is engineered into some laser guns e.g. Riegl. According to a post at UK Traffic Law, a Riegl was jammed by both devices. However the SLD920 did not trigger a jamming alert whereas the LE850 did.

Good luck!

"it" being an SLD 920 BTW. £250 all in inc postage.
Hasten to add, not doing this so I can take the p155 speeding, just because there are so many police spending time on bridges and by the side of the road these days (and ... that's all they do) and I do about 20K + miles a year.
Have also come to the conclusion if they ever ask for my help in any way, like they have before (using my flat as a surveillance point for a raid they thought was going to happen opposite for example ) I'm gonna say no, and maybe they should think about this when they are picking motorists off next time.

I have Blinder units for 2 years, about 1 year ago I had problems with water getting in (intermittent falsing in rain) I have dismantled and reassembled using silicone sealant and they have been fine, they false occasionally in bright sunlight but earthing the body helped and I am sure they have saved me a couple of times (of course I didn't stop to ask Plod what reading he got!), and you never really know if they work until...

I recall a Jeremy Clarkson newspaper piece where he pointed out that many CID regard Traffic Police as Witness nobblers, If you've been done and feel agrieved that it was unfar/unjust etc you won't be very Police evidence sympathetic if on a Jury at a later date.

Exactly the same problem was reported in the Belfast Telegraph in January:
From http://makeashorterlink.com/?A12526D4
"A senior CID officer complained that investigation of serious crime is hampered when resentment over unfair, aggressive treatment by traffic police caused key witnesses to withdraw co-operation.
In one case, a witness assisting in investigation of a terrorist bombing at great personal risk, lost motivation when a close relative with a 45-year clear driving record was prosecuted for a trivial offence."
