OK - one stupid thing that is annoying me. Coming from Essex where the only criminals seem to be speeding drivers I am interested on your take of the following two situations.
1. Our police love mobile Mini Gatso's which they have put up the required signs along the road blah blah..but then they sit parked on the grass verge the other side of the pavement(still pavement!) and sit there trying to catch people - surely if i decided to park up there and walk into town or sit in the car and have lunch I would be given a ticket for illegal parking - so how can the Police do it-one rule fits all I feel !

2.The also have one at the bottom of a hill, hidden in a turning - why? Neither here nor the other mobile location they use is an 'accident blackspot' which is meant to be their legal purpose for existence- no what they do is hope that you pick up the extra 3-4mph coming down a steepish hill and nick you for it. Surely this is flagrant abuse.

Ok I don't care as the Valentine always warns me with plenty of distance - so I relish slowing down to 25 in second and popping the Cerb's exhaust all the way past - and I KNOW that pisses them off - GOOD

I drove through Chelmsford this morning during rush hour and beside one roundabout a copper was sat in his Ford Focus estate staring blankly at the traffic as it crawled past, as I drove out of the other side of Chelmsford another copper was sat in a car at a different roundabout again watching the traffic crawl past.
What on earth are Essex police playing at with tax payers money? There is no way they could catch someone contravening driving laws since the traffic was moving too slowly! In a county which surely has one of the highest crime rates in Britain today, way aren't they out there catching criminals instead of lazing about on their fat ar5e5 with their fat salaries doing absolutely nothing to combat crime! If they must concentrate on motoring offences why don't they investigate the scum who leave the A12 littered with burnt out cars after a joyriding session.
I am sick and tired of the appalling standard of policing in this region, when you phone them asking for genuine help, they take forever to respond telling us their resources are stretched as it is! The Chief Constable of Essex Police should be sacked immediately and replaced by someone with a grip on reality. Oh, and by the way, a few months ago Essex police had a crackdown on law braking pedal cyclists who were blatantly flouting the law by cycling on pavements without lights. How were they chasing them? - On foot? - No. - On bicycles? - No. They were chasing them in Panda cars!!! How easy is it for a cyclist to dart up alleyways to escape the law? Obviously we have a major problem with cyclists which is far more of a priority than drug dealers!

Its simple - drug dealers and muggers, (if they ever actually caught any) would involve mountains of paperwork and no revenue for plod. Now no-one likes paperwork at the best of times, so its a lot better (and more cash positive, because policing is a BUSINESS now, isn't it) to persecute motorists (5 mins filling in a form, plus maybe 10 mins more back at the to add the points to the licence before posting it back to the driver) and cyclists. How long before they demand registration plates for cyclists....

Strangely enough I saw 3 coppers on the Railway bridge a few weeks ago (where that nice safety conscience Lump of Concrete is in the road) just standing watching the cars go past.

They are. Joe Bloggs motorist, Public enemy No.1

Just remember this as you read your council tax increase of 9.8% or so. Gotta pay for them to attend all those Gender Equality courses
