Flasher claims that the rest of the posters here have no problems with him and fellow Daily Mail readers coming out with homophobic remarks. I know he does not speak for me but how do you lot feel.

I would added this to the correct thread but it has been locked leaving Flasher's idiotic(IMHO) opinions last.

I don't think he does speak for anyone other than him/herself. I have had one Email saying well done for confronting this nonsense and mostly find the posters here to be thoughtful and measured. I like this forum and it would be a shame to let the fools take over.

Chris,

I read the other thread and personally did think some of the comments we a bit harsh especially in a public forum as concievably there could easily be offence taken by some. However, I do also think that the comments were initially made in what could be construed as good humour.

People had issue with opinions being forced on them, which is something I detest immensely. It is the place of no one to enforce their opinion on others and if people make comments in humour that causes offence well its up to the person that caused the offence to clarify the remark.

I dont think Flasher was speaking for all of us but do think he had a valid point. I honestly dont believe that many people on here are small minded bigots as the vast majority of people who post things are intelligent and informed.

I am neither a homophobe (for want of a better word) nor a racist and I personally dont know any people who could be described as either. This is not because I dont get out much but because I dont want to know people like that so I ignore them. Perhaps the same approach could be adopted to this scenario?

Call me a hippy if you like, but I do prefer everyone to get along. Right, now, where did I put my tickets to the UN conference!!

Matt.

Flasher does not speak for me - in fact we often end up on opposite sides of arguments here (in the friendliest sense you understand ).

Like happens frequently here, someone will make a flippant remark out of humour and it causes offense or some earnest debate - like when I called Diana and Flasher got on my case for it..

Fair enough I say - debate and argument are good... ad hominem name calling is not.. (fun though it may be )

However, it appears that Flasher and I (plus some others) broadly agree on the matter at hand. I have nothing further to add without repeating what I said in the Pink Plate thread.. and that brings me to my only beef.. what's posted needs to be read and understood by people before they go on the offensive - there's no point in making a carefully worded & considered post when those involved in the debate simply ignore all but the first thing that inflames their sense of injustice.

Really I'm sure none of us are that bothered about arguing about topics like this, we come here to have a chat with each other & Ted about our cars and other related topics.

Its a shame when it gets personal or offensive as its very unneccesary.

On that note I'm off for lunch with my black boyfriend.

Now I come to think of it, 'pink plates' do sound like a schoolboy euphemism similar to beef curtains or such like .. LMFAO

Oh dear, we appear to have spoilt, left wing child on here who is more upset at the fact that he didn't get the last word than anything else.

As usual tallchris you have the wrong end of the stick....

I said I speak for everyone in the point that we are mostly on here because we are NOT left wing politically correct muppets like you, who, typically of your "sort" seem to think that anyone who doesn't share your "right-on" Blairite opinion on everything means you have to threaten them with a "good kicking"

In case you hadn't noticed, high performance cars are NOT politically correct and that was my point. We all like a laugh on here, except you it seems...

OK, so you don't like Homophobic comments, but I don't people like you coming on here telling me what I can and can't say.......... and in that sense, I feel I do speak for everyone.

I don't advocate being rude, sexist, or racist but I'm never ever going to have anyone telling me what I can, or can't have an opinion on. I think it's the same for just about everyone on this website..... that's why we are all here, because we DONT conform to New Labour PC stereotypes

There is what I said.... it hardly constitutes me saying I speak for everyone on Pistonheads does it??

Just goes to show how you are a typical example of the hypocritical Government you support......

You're not Peter Mandelson's new boyfriend are you?

Show me what bigoted comment I made and I will apologise. I didn't did I? I just defended the free speech you tried to stop..... I don't agree with the stuff on there either but I'm not going to be told by a cycle riding , greenpeace loving, Ken Livingstone appreciating left-winger what I can and can't laugh at, if that's OK with you....

I can't believe I could ever read such immature posts right here; you guys really have no other eggs to fry...
Just please let everyone think what they want, wether you like it or not.
As Sir Winston Churchill once said "Democracy is the less disgusting regime for a country".

Now let's all get back to work and see you in the evening with a pint in the left hand and the mouse in the other one
