Amnesty

French motorists are making the roads a dangerous place in the run up to the election there. In a tradition dating back to 1965, the newly elected president grants pardons for minor offences. It's a tradition which motorists are now taking advantage of and which politicians won't revoke for fear of losing the votes of drivers.

On R4 they also said that one town mayor thinks its a daft tradition so no parking tickets will be issued on a particular day.
Still, they are always good at not upsetting the peasants, farmers/truckers blockade at will, no beef, lamb etc

The shame on us!
Actually they're not sure it will happen this time: uptil now the candidates hesitate to defend openly the amnesty, because it's completely immoral ...but it might still happen after the election!
Maybe it's about time I max my car on the French autoroute after all
