Don't know his name, but the grey haired tw@t with the tash on BBCs "Breakfast" this morning was going throught the morning papers, he picked up the Express which has the headline WHY ARE MOTORISTS VICTIMISTED, he said "Because you all drive too fast and break the law" threw the paper down without even explaining the story.

No guesses which side of the fence he sits on - Tw@t

I Drove extra fast to work this morning

Presumably he is a Tony Bliar accolyte, put into the job to be in a position to support the anti-motorist government.

Do you really think it's paranoia, Manek?

I see it as symptomatic of the anti-motorist message which this government and it's media 'chums' are bent on putting forward.

Whilst you or I might judge that all this guy has done is expose his own journalistic shortcomings, a lot of people don't see such nuance.

A lot of people merely see a representative of the BBC - a broadcaster with some credibility - being effectively dismissive of motorists and this makes an impression on people.

I've mentioned this guy before regarding the way he interviewed Idris Francis- the guy whose going to the ECHR with the ABD. They talked to him like he was a sex pest or something.

The BBC do some good things, but a lot of their journos make me wanna scream.

come on guys for gawds sake its jeremy bowen, even the other presenters sometimes laugh at him for the guff he spouts. If I was Tony Blair he would be pretty low down the list of 'credible' people I'd want supporting me in public...

Cedibility has nothing to do with it - the numpties only need to be told something several times and they believe it, the unquestioning morons! He got air-time and a couple of million people heard him - thats all it takes - repetition of the speed kills mantra and before we know it we'll all be shovelling horse-shit, cos thats what we'll all be riding to work in their "perfect, green and pleasant" land. Uuuuuuurghhhhhhh!!

The point is that greying tw@t isnt paid to voice his opinions, just present the facts.

On the way to work, the guy on the radio did a grand job of explaining the very same story, yet this numpty didnt even bother, he just threw the paper down in his own personal disgust and moved on to the next headline.

We've already got very little public voice as it is without d*ckheads like him using airtime to voice his opinions.

Well, I have to say that, having studied topics such as the effectiveness of propaganda in the past, there's very little evidence to suggest that people en masse respond that directly to messages.

It's not to say that people aren't affected at all but a source's credibility is a major determinant of the effectiveness of message dissemination. Ask yourself, do you believe everything you read here on PH? If not, why not? If so -- er...

I mean, Jeremy Bowen?

All I'll say is this - "Repetition is the mother of success". The message may be wrong, but if told often enuff, it gets believed, because the majority of numbwits can't be bothered to check the facts or think for themselves.

I wonder if this is the same guy? Excuse the paraphrasing - this is just the bits that stuck in my memory after reading a story about him....

Paraphrase:

War correspondents are 'terrible piss artists', according to Jeremy Bowen. 'Boozing is a way of letting off steam as much as anything,' he says.

Bowen is something of a wine buff. In the Balkans in the early 1990s, he used a UN transport plane to ship two cases of Italian wine to former Yugoslavia. 'I heard it was flying down from Ancona, so I went there, bought some decent Italian wine and carried it with me to Sarajevo.'

The area with which he is most commonly associated is the Middle East, where he spent five years tracking down good wine. 'When I first went there in 1995, there wasn't much imported wine available, so I drank Israeli wines. By the time I left, I was rather fond of them.” “I used to raise eyebrows with two huge bags full of wine.”

It's a world away from Cardiff, where Bowen was born and brought up. In South Wales, his father used to let him drink Bulls Blood as a kid, but Bowen grew up a beer drinker.

Bowen has recently finished filming a three-part series for the BBC called Booze, “It's about why we love booze, why we hate booze and why it hates us.” He also, he says, had to get drunk on camera.

End Paraphrase.

Wonder if he still has a driving license?

I can see the headlines now: Clarkson holds up a copy of TVR News with the title "WHY ARE BREAKFAST TV PRESENTERS VICTIMISED" and throws it down saying "because you're all piss heads and you steal from NATO"

I feel that there is a message problem with the TV reporters. They reflect the news as it is given to them to report,if they always told the truth the public would not want to know it. As for the message not being belived the average Sun reader, who are a large majority of the public, belive that If Niel Kinnock had been elected we would have had to turn the lights off in Britain. The misrepresentation of facts is a goverment run conspiracy. Take fox hunting, now I cannot support it but when the fox population grows the same goverment who are going to ban hunting will then employ teams of people to go and gas the little blighters. The same goverment who used the terrible Dunblane massacre to outlaw hand guns to make the world safer. Yet gun crime still rises, yet people belived that to deny others of a leisure pursuit was needed so thats what they got. If you keep telling sheep to follow you(or ewe) they will. It is necessary for us to keep shouting at the sheep to run away as the propagand machine that is leveled against the driver is a frightening and powerful thing.
