Geodesy or Bel 550 or both
Discussion
Newbie question here, so be gentle...please.
Geodesy sounds great as it 'knows' where they all are, but what about mobile speed traps, which I presume the Bel is good for?
Both have their merits, but which is the better one to get? Geodesy which gets 100% of most of the speed traps, or Bel which gets 90% of all the traps??

if you have the money, both.
If you can afford the detector, go for it. Otherwise a GPS unit is very good, and affordable. Also not likely to get banned in the near future.
My Geo is a cool bit of kit, and it frees up your mind for driving - and looking for mobile camera units. Also fairly water proof if you need to fit it to a bike.
Anymore opinions chaps?

I've just bought a Bell 550 which seems to work quite nicely, although you have to get used to the false alarms which happen quite regularly in the city. It does have sensitivity settings, but these make little difference.
It does spot cameras however, and gives you adequate notice of approaching one, either from the front or behind. It's interesting to note that a few of the cameras near me aren't active! I'll do some tests at the weekend (not home till then) and post the results on here. I'd prefer to have a geodesy too
I also bought a laser diffuser (read: jammer) which i intend to install at the weekend. These things aren't cheap, but I've now been nicked for the following: 58 mph in a 50 zone (country lane, middle of nowhere, mobile camera) and parking with 2 wheels on a wavy line. Hence 6 points. I must be a really dangerous driver then. Yeah right.

I use a Bell550 and am well impressed with it's performance. You do however need to position it correctly. Just right of centre screen approx 1.5" above the dash on my Chimaera. Thanks to Surrey police for the M25 and roadside GATSO which have enabled me to set up my Bell correctly.
I guess the Geodesy product is excellent if you drive outside your local area.
