If you have the money then they make a good pair.

I use mine Geodesy eith a Euro 550 + a laser jammer and it works a treat!

You can't really compare them as such, as the V1 is a detector while the Geo. is a GPS system which simply sets off its 'alarm system' when it tracks a camera in the vacinity of your route.

As Marv said, together they are a great combo, if you can afford it.

I'm debating whether to buy a Geo to go with my Bel 550, as money is going faster than a maclaren F1, anyway, back to the subject.

It depends what you want out of them, either fixed camera 'detection', or all-round detection of radar/laser/gatso/mini-gatso and so forth.

My only problem(s) are how to have more than 1 system that utilizes the ciggie lighter socket at once.. as i don't want them permanently installed via 'hard wiring' them. And secondly, how good (or poor) the Bel will work with a UV protected W/screen, as the car i have atm is a courtesy car while mine is in the garage... just hope i haven't wasted money on it.

I was leaning toward the Valentine cause it should pick up on mini gatso's and the laser gun things...... but looking at the forum most people seem to have the Geodesy.

I was wondering why most people had gone for Geodesy when all it can tell you is about static Gatso's ?

I honestly couldn't say on that one, you'd have to ask one of the Geo unit owners.

But if you're wanting to possibly buy both, or a cheaper model compared to the V1, the Bel Euro 550, is rated the number 1 UK detector.. it'll save you £100 or more quid than buyin' the V1, and i would say, it works just as well, the only benefits from the V1, accourding to a review, is the directional arrows, showing you where each warning is coming from, so you know where to look, and also, the fact that it counts all potential traps in the area.

If i were you, i'd opt for the Bel 550, as it can be re-programmed for future speed traps, and has the built in SWS (Safety Warning System), which may become a big thing in the future, for alerting drivers of danger ahead, etc.

Don't let me spend your money though, go look at the reviews on the V1 and the Bel 550 @ www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk/frames.htm

It may clear your head a bit.

I use geodesy mainly because I'm paranoid but it has protection against Truvelo and Specs both of which can't be "detected". Having said that the V1 unit looks spot on and is ideal for the temporary sites along with saying which gatso's are duds I couldn't justify the big expense of both but am going to the states next month so a bit of shopping might be in order me thinks. As far as the Geodesy database is concerned to date I have never found one it didn't know about !

I have found 6 permenant gatsos in total that the Geod database didnt know about. As yet I havent received any cash for them and it was months and months ago.

My main reason for the Geod is that I do a lot of driving round the south of England where i dont know my way let alone any gatso hidden on route. The 550 backs up this if the device is live but isnt in the database. It also tells me which devices are live anyway and im beginning to trust it.
When I first got the 550 i did a tour of all the cameras i could find in my area. In total we found 60 cameras and only 2 triggered the 550. None of the cameras that didnt trigger the 550 had radar units or flashes in them....

To be fair in my statement about not finding any I do live very close to where Morpheous are based so assume that their staff are a bit more efficient locally with the database.

I have a V1 and a Geodesy and, as has already been said, they can't really be compared; they are complementary. As for the hard-wired problem, I hard-wired the V1 but since it's unpluggable, you don't have to leave anything other than a discreet wire in the car. The Geo can then be plugged into the cigarette lighter. Alternatively, get yourself down to Halfords and get a twin adaptor for said outlet.
