Help - Just got banned

I just got a 42 day ban for doing over 100 on a motorway. This means as it's a short-period disqualification, my licence will be returned to me (rather than having to apply for a new one).

Do I lose the 6 points I previously had on the licence, or are they carried over after the ban. Some of my friends tell me that any ban (no matter how short) results in the driver going back to a 'clean' licence with no active points.

I'm confused...

Your points will still be on your licence. Your ban will be shown seperately with no points. You only get a clean licence back after a totting-up ban (6 months).
