Banned for 106 on MWay
Discussion
106 on A1(M) a few months back. Bright, clear, dry day not much traffic. Overtook for a bit longer than needed. Honest..!
Anyway, Stevenage magistrates court today for the punishment to be dealt.
Handed over licence and statement of means to clerk. She told 3 old lady magistrates that I had a clean licence. Obviously didn't see the SP30 from Feb 1998.... Had written letter expressing regret over that incident, how it had affected me (cough) and that I was "a good boy". Didn't pass this on the old witches as thought I might incriminate myself. Fookin wished I had now. Gave them letter from boss with the usual.
After asking why I was going that fast and if loosing my licence would I loose my job "No, just seriously affect my duties" blah blah they retired to discuss. I think that they went to have a smoke or something. Came back, and "after consideration" and "credit for pleading guilty" they said that the speed was so excessive and at 1820 (on a fricken Sunday!) that they had to :-
28 day ban, £300 fine and £35 costs.
Looks like standard practice to me although I think the fine could've been worse. Bang goes the week 'boarding in Andorra.
