Bugger, on my way to MK to pick up the taz with the disco comming around the outskirts of bister (near raynard and BAR) on single track 60mph road i happened on a red van parked up with the side door open and a camera sticking out. it had the words saftey camera on it, i did a quick take on the speedo and thought i was ok as the numbers were hidden behind the s/wheel. i had a look later and was probably doing 65-75 any idea on the procedure if i''ve been done, how long do i have to wait? Cheers Graham

I wish more people in the UK would do the French thing and flash their headlights at you as you approach a speed trap, excellent idea IMO. I always do it now, some people look at you a bit oddly, but they get the idea 1/2 mile later. Of course it is rather naughty. I remember reading about a couple of enterprising kids who had set themselves up along the road before a trap in a village somewhere. One kid a little in front (out of sight of PC Copper) with a sign saying "Speed Trap ahead" and a second kid with a bucket and a sign saying "tips" after the speedtrap. T/.

I flashed a car coming the other way having just pasted a laser trap in a 40mph limit. Unfortunately I didn't know that plod was also just down the road on my side and saw me flash my headlights !! Anyway, he pulled me in and said it was an offence to flash my lights to warn other drivers and claimed it was perverting the course of justice. I just replied that I thought it was someone I knew (the driver waved back) and was just saying hello !! He looked mightily narked about this (which was the intention !) and said it was still perverting the course of justice. I countered that by saying that if I *had* flashed him to warn him of the speed trap a) surely that's a good thing if it caused him to slow down and b) if the other car wasn't speeding then how can that be perverting justice if no laws were being broken in the first place ?? In view of the fact that I didn't want the conversation to degenerate further I bade him farewell and left one slightly stumped plod standing by the side of the road....

That used to happen a lot more frequently. Trouble is now people flash at you if you dare to overtake or are driving too fast for their liking.

I got flashed for overtaking the other day and i was about 1/2 a mile from the oncoming car! I bet once the government has made speeding as socially unacceptable as drink driving then they will turn there attention to overtaking then large engines, then god knows what else!
