Anyone else see the two marked volvo estates on the road between the A30 (Blackbush/Eversly) and Ancells Farm/Elvetham Heath (Fleet) in Hampshire - were they revenue raisers ?

One parked at one end of the 1st straight and the other parked at the end of the other straight. Both rear end facing towards A30 with 2 ocifers in front seats. Didnt notice any cameras etc but would i see em ? Are volvos equiped with equipment that can be operated inside a closed, stationary, vehicle by operatives in the front ?

There was a recent major crime scene very nearby so they may have been there for other reasons although they appeared to be traffic cars.

As an aside the 1st car was parked attrociously - sticking out into the carriageway causing other cars to move into the opposite lane to pass (entirely understandable if attending to an emergency and not attempting to spoil my x'mas)

Hmmmm...hope they were just stopped for t n biccies....fear that envelope.

Last weekend I drove along that road, and was stopped and presented with a sheet of questions.

The Body of Amanda 'Milly' Dowler was found near there, so I imagine they were just setting up another stop point to hand out these question sheets.

Very unlikely it was a speed-trap.

You're right though, they were poorly parked last weekend too !
There should have been more warning than a car parked with it's lights flashing though. The actual point at which they were stopping cars was almost directly after a blind bend !

My rat-run of a morning takes me from Fleet thru Elvetham and up the lane to join this road going up to the A30. Saw the 1st Battenburg there yesterday morning but no police officers in the car or anywhere near. V.unlikely to have been a speed trap - I've never seen one there before and there's no need for one.

I assumed the car was there relating to the Milly Dowler incident (although the body was found at the other end of these woods). I'm appalled that this dispicable act appears to have occured so close to home, and am ashamed that Fleet will be remembered in connection to this incident. I really hope that they catch the b@st@rd, and will put up with any amount of inconvenience that may be necessary to this end.

Completely agree with your view - am more than happy to be inconvenienced to catch serious criminals like this.

I was just asking in a more concerned fashion as the presence of 2 marked traffic volvos at the ends of the 2 straights smacked a little of something more traffic orientated.....lets just say i was making progress and like my letters to be x'mas cards at this time of year.

Had to laugh whilst out in Farnborough today. Someone had erected a huge sign saying 'police speed camera' and an arrow pointing up the road. The usual clown in his lazer equiped fun bus had gone by the time i passed through but it still made me chuckle.

Out of interest though whats the crack on speed trap equipment on the 'battenburgs' (lol i like that 1). Like i said, both parked with boot (closed) facing towards me and 2 officers in the front - not the normal set up....or is it ???

Thanks for comments

I'm not sure what equipment would be standard on the Volvos, but I'm sure that if a radar can be set up in the back of a van, then a Volvo estate would be just as suitable.

Was the speed trap sign in Farnborough on the A325 southbound as you approach Baron's BMW? I applaud anything that joe public can do to fight back against this ridiculous set up there. Completely unjustified to set up a hidden mobile cash machine on this bit of dual carriage way. My wife got nabbed there & 3 points + £60, doing 36 mph ffs! I always look out for the van there now. Apparently there's serious public outroar over this site. Been in the local press too.

Seen this set up but with a tax disc reader van nearby. Van flags up the violator and cars/bikes nab him.

Likewise, an officer in the first car could easily catch you with LASER out of his window (after you've passed if necessary) and radio his colleague ahead to stop you.

Just a shame that as well as being unable to drive you can't spell 'Atrociously' either...ho ho

Dude - they were definitely Milly Dyler enquiries only, got the official info on that one as it were...

Hope ure info as reliable as i would expect Night !!!

Like i said, looked suspiciously traffic like, although i aint blinkered to the more important business the police have rightfully been pursuing up there - i drive it twice a day.

The sign in Farnborough was on the southbound stretch of the A325 on the dualcarriageway between the clockhouse roundabout and the pinehurst roundabout (just past the surgery). I'm sure u all know that generally anywhere between clockhouse (poss as far as McDonalds)and Tesco's roundabout in Aldershot (may go a lil further) is regularly monitored by the man in his van. I know plenty who have had letters letting them know he was there in case they failed to spot him and wave .

No doubt i'll catch up with you over the weekend if you're around Night.
