for any Glasgow based PH'ers out there, the 3 new(ish) cameras on the A80 at Moodiesburn are now active. I was passed by a numpty old dear, who couldn't have been doing more than 37mph (I was doing 31) when she got the double flash. Laughed as I passed her seconds later with a confused look on her face as the realisation of what had happened sunk in
Later on Friday evening, noticed the camera at the A80 BP station actually
sits behind the support pole that holds it, instead of being out to the side like most other cameras. Some enterprising locals have taken to placing a roadcone on top of this pole, which effectively stops the camera from operating - though it had been removed on the Saturday.

I was passing through there about 2 weeks ago and noticed them. They are painted fairly bright colours and are not hidden at all. You need to be almost blind to miss them. Also this area is fairly residential with a lot of children playing near by. Before the cameras cars would not slow down much from the previos 70MPH limit.

I believe this is how speed cameras should be used rather than all the hidden ones that IMHO are fund raisers.

couldn't agree more Deester, they force the traffic to slow to 30 for 2 dangerous junctions where pedestrians regularly cross the road. The rest of the road is 50/70 depending in which direction you are headed, which is more than adequate for that stretch. The cameras were put there about 3 months ago, but they have not been active prior to last week. Saw someone else get flashed at the same one last night. That particular stretch of road will catch a lot of the numpties out, as to slow from 70 to 30 for a set of traffic lights is a large speed differential. I can see them dropping the 70 limit on the carriageway approach to 50 in both directions in the near future.
