PCP VT collection, didn't know what to do about the V5. Would you trust BCA/whatever trader gets the car to handle the V5 process for you? Isn't it the seller's responsibility to notify the DVLA???

Although you are not the seller. I assume you are the RK? It is still the RK's responsibility to tell of the change. I assume the correct thing is that it has gone to trade but to whom.AI says it's the finance house, not BCA. AI also says that this is normal practice. It suggests taking a full copy of the V5 and giving them a period of a few days to do the change of keeper. If it doesn't happen then do it yourself.
The RK is legally responsible for notifying the DVLA so if you’re the RK, and you’re holding the V5, then it’s moved into trade to BCA the minute they take the vehicle into their custody and control.
I deal with BCA professionally and as others have said, it they were organising a piss-up in a brewery, then I’d view that as ambitious for them.
Completing routine administration tasks, even less so.

What does it tell you to do on the V5?Tear off yellow strip part of the V5 and inform the DVLA. Tax remaining (any full months) gets auto refunded. Job done. BCA still get the V5 and OP has done what's required.
Ignore Toyota, they are wrong in this case.
Yellow strip is transferring or selling to motor traders which includes "finanace companies".

The question isn't could they organize a piss up in a brewery.I deal with BCA professionally and as others have said, it they were organising a piss-up in a brewery, then I d view that as ambitious for them.
Its whether they could pour piss out of a boot if the instructions were printed on the heel...
But apparently neither can Toyota Finance given someone has written an email telling you to commit a criminal offence by not informing the DVLA of change of keeper...
(Sure, the DVLA rarely action this because you getting done for keeper liability offences solves the problem with no effort on their part vs having to take you to court and an overworked magistrate asking if its really in the public interest for them to be dealing with this rather than just fining you if/when you fail to identify a speeding driver etc...)
