Busted for speeding today on M1. No complaints, only me to blame..I even passed the marked car on slip road, but he didnt follow so I booted it! took him 9 miles to catch up with me and 0.8 to clock me.
Q1. he said "we got you at 108 but thought thaats not right so rechecked"
I got pulled at 103.9 but why wwould it not be right? they were using the av speed thing! dunno what its called, using 2 fixed points etc...
Q2 I need car for job, I know its auto ban, but they cant if it will cause financial hardship etc.... what my chances, any advice on proving this?
Q.3 Why do they bother on Sunday mornings?

I can only give you some suggestions on question 3:

If you saw a marked car and booted it they probably thought you were taking the piss! and that's probably the reason why the pulled you. (Or, of course, you might have picked "PC Bored" - there ain't much to do on a Sunday morning!

His words were "didnt you see us on the slip road"
"yep"
"and you still went for it"
"Hmmmmm"

It took 9 miles to catch up with me! so they didnt set off straight away ! oh well.
Nice chaps really, no sarcastic lecture.

Doesnt make a difference if they get the car type wrong or any other minor detail.

In court they have a thing called the "slip rule" allowing them to change minor errors so a court case wont get chucked out.

Friend of mine had 2 digits of his reg number down wrong but because they were able to prove who he was and what the reg number was supposed to be he still got done.

As for the 100MPH thing it really depends. I have heard of people getting less than nothing for doing 150MPH before. Then again my old boss got bannd for a year for and a 1000 quid fine for doing 101MPH. However he was definatly being made an example of.

Many years back I was literally screamed at by a P.C. in a car. I had been hitch-hiking on the beginning of a slip-road of a motorway (M5, I think). He told me in no uncertain terms that the slip-road is part of the motorway and as a pedestrian I should not be there.
Point is, should the BIB be parking on a slip-road? Marked or unmarked, there is still little room for a parked car.

Scoff,

Read my thread on my day in court the other week.
www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=20329&f=10&h=0

Basically if you plead guilty and "extreme hardship" in the context of you need your licence to work and without it you could not. Then they will more than likely give 6 points and a hefty fine. This is what happened to me. However each Magistrate is different and it will all depend on the day and how "sorry" you are in court. So an exact outcome is impossible to guess.

Good luck.
Simon

Cheers Simon, I wont have a problem proving I need the car, and I'm not one to moan unduly about being done! Actually surprised it wasnt sooner and for faster! on well! As for the Technicality, just clutching at straws! you know how it is? I intend to plead guilty, and take my medicine!
