Scamera vans at night?!
Discussion
I always thought these worked in the day only but they didn't use them at night but I got caught at 6.30pm recently and never saw the scamera van/plod. I was quite confused and suprised I hadn't seen anyway.
However, coming home tonight at about the same time I went past another Police van (luckily facing away from me) scamming cars on a typical dead straight bit of road that could hardly be safer.
Looks like scamera vans are operating at night which is a step up for these modern day highwaymen.
FYI this was in Bracknell, near the McD roundabout and between Sonning and Reading, by the BP garage.

New ones can get you front and back around here. I guess other forces can as well. However, coming home tonight at about the same time I went past another Police van (luckily facing away from me) scamming cars on a typical dead straight bit of road that could hardly be safer.

Just reading between the lines...However, coming home tonight at about the same time I went past another Police van (luckily facing away from me) scamming cars on a typical dead straight bit of road that could hardly be safer.

....do you suspect these cameras aren't actually about road safety? Can't quite put my finger on why I think you may feel that way .

I got done here a few years ago. Going into the office around midday rather than the 0630 I normally went in. Got pinged by a van right by the leisure centre roundabout GRRR. Speed awareness course at TRRL a few months later. However, coming home tonight at about the same time I went past another Police van (luckily facing away from me) scamming cars on a typical dead straight bit of road that could hardly be safer.

Any luck they will catch some of the unsuspecting tts that drive around Bracknell as if it's there own personal race track. Objective of speed cameras is to enforce compliance. They are most effective on safe, wide, well-sighted roads where illegal speeds pose minimal risk.
Putting them where you expect them and only there makes them ineffective. Not sure where you get your theory, but it’s mostly bollix.
I think you repeat it because that is how you would like to have them operate so you can predict their presence, and for no other reason.

Why not utilise honest terminology?
I do believe this is the first thing you have said that makes sense. Why not utilise honest terminology?

Very immature to keep using the word 'scam'.
Where is the scam?
They are the definition of a scam. Where is the scam?
It always amazes me how willing people are to roll over and be part of the regime. At what point in history did we vote for this nation wide network of motorist surveillance?
