Neighbour saying I hit car
Discussion
About 5 years ago i backed into my neighbours car and it went through the insurance and sorted. Today he said there is a new dent on his car and I must of done it. My car has various marks on it but I know there is nothing new. Where do I stand. He wants to claim on my insurance again. Should I phone my insurance in advance and advise them I dispute this.
Ask him to put his claim in writing to you, giving a time and date of the incident, a description of what happened, witness details, and the evidence he has for claiming you were negligent. If such a letter comes, which it probably won't, then send it to your insurers with a flat denial of the claim made against you.
I would tell your neighbour you have not damaged their car and if he attempts to go through insurance you will tell your insurers the same.
If he goes via his insurance and will get a letter from your insurers - this is the time I would tell your insurers that nothing happened. I wouldn’t contact them now to say nothing happened!

You might want to take a short video of your car showing there is no damage, scuffs etc on it.

The dent on your neighbour's car could have happened anywhere. He's only going for you because you did it before so he thinks he can get another free repair. If it wasn't you I'd tell him so. He has no evidence it was you so I don't think he can do anything about it.
NB Is the dent in the right place, and if so could it have been a family member?

Someone has claimed I hit their car and im now over one year in on the process.
He lodged claim with his insurers.
My insurers contacted me and I said I had not hit anyone.
On request I sent photos of my non damaged van to my insurer.
After about 8 months the other insurer is going to court.
After one year still no action, my insurer has asked if ill attend court, which I will.
I still have a "fault" claim pending over me.
Im away now till Feb so no court action till at least then.
This st drags on, and this is all with only his word against mine.

OP, is it an unusual parking situation?

Aye, and I'd point out to him that I was honest with him previously and have no reason to want to lie about this - if it were my fault I'd own it.
^^ Excellent point. Yes, they could choose to ignore that fact nugget, but it would make me stop and think.
Also, I wonder if they were just fishing and wanted to look in the OPs face when he answered to see if he avoided eye contact.

Have you hit his car or not?The fact your car has no new marks on it isn't evidence either way
