Hi I bought a brand new swift kon tiki on Fiat Ducato on March 2024. On the 28th September (only done 1800 miles since new) while driving a long the engine management light came on then a transmision fault warning came up. It seemed to be changing gears at the wrong time. I stoped and switched off. After a while I strated with no lights on so I started driving again then both lights cam on againg I kept driving to find a sutable place to stop. Before I stoped another light came on transmision over heat just as I was pulling into a layby. Again I let it cool down and check for any oil leaks nothing. I started is up again some time later and only the engine light was on this time, I wasn’t far from my home and made it home with no other lights coming on. I call motor home assistance who sent someone out to have a look that day he said his equipment could not get into the vehicle to read fault codes. Monday morning 30th September I took it to our local Fiat dealer to find that it was all gear box related, and fiat technical sheet said it required a soft wear update. Because our local fiat dealer never had a ramp big enough to take the van they recommended it go to a different Fiat dealer some 40 miles away. Fiat arranged for a recover truck to take it to them on the 9th october. On the Thursday 10th october they call to say it was ready for collection. I couldn’t make it that day so I went to collect on the Friday 11th october. I collected it and only got ½ mile and engine and transmision lights came back. I took it back to them and Im now waiting to find out what is happening with it. Since it has now failed twice can I ask for my money back from the supplier ???

Too late now & wouldn't make any difference, but can I ask why you didn't just return it to the dealer you bought it from as it is 100% their problem to sort out.

Rightly or wrongly, the dealer would say take it to a Fiat Professional dealer to get it sorted (and may have said that in this case).
Been there done that (but got the problem fixed with mine - eventually)

on talking to the Fiat dealer today they say they have some tests to run first but it will probably need a new gear box something about not enough oil from factory

That sounds like it might take a while. But unless you are dead set on trying to reject, I would let the Fiat Pro guys do their thing.

If you need a motorhome to use whilst it's off the road, then I would be asking the supplying dealer to help out. I'd certainly be in dialogue with them about it, but I assume you are anyway.
