I have an item for sale cash on collection. I just received the message below asking to pay through Vinted as she wants to pay by credit card. I’ve never used Vinted so don’t know if this is an honest purchase.

Any thoughts?

Not very positive - https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/vinted.co.uk?star...
I wouldn't as you'll have to sign up to it.

If it's done through Vinted then they will take care of everything, hard to see how they might scam you.

The only way they can cause difficulty is to say the goods don't match the description, but you can then force them to send the item back at their own cost. If they don't then Vinted release the money to you.

My wife sells all sorts on there though Facebook is infested with scammers so maybe there is some method I don't know about.

I wouldn't bother and wait for another buyer on the platform it's actually listed on.

Offer PayPal instead?

Possibly a goods not as described refund/return scam.

As it's Facebook and as it is social media it really must be assumed to be a scam.

Even if the buyer comes with cash then it could be a scam. smile

I questioned her further and it turns out that she wanted me to post the item to her home nearly 300 miles away. My advertisement clearly says ‘cash on collection’. That way the buyer gets to inspect the item and the seller gets paid.

Waste of time and likely scam imo.

Thanks for the help guys. thumbup
