Clean air zone in Bristol
Discussion
Does anyone know if its possible to find out if I entered a clean air zone.
I was dropping my daughter of at University today on the edge of the zone and I'm pretty certain I didn't enter but the website for paying doesn't appear to tell you if you entered or not. It seems to be a £0, £9 or £60 gamble.

None of the CAZs will tell you if you entered or not. It’s not in their financial interest to do so.I was dropping my daughter of at University today on the edge of the zone and I'm pretty certain I didn't enter but the website for paying doesn't appear to tell you if you entered or not. I wrote to them to ask - they couldn't tell me.
I reckon there is a legal loophole there - they can't (shouldn't be able to) prosecute you if they can't tell you.
If enough people wrote to them to ask, and then were willing to have their day in court, it would I think, crash the system.
Besides, I don't think it's morally justifiable to prosecute you.
Anyway, in my case, they said we can't tell you, but speak to us when the fine comes. It did, and they waived it, but made me pay the congestion charge.

Which halls, and which motorway junction did you use? I was dropping my daughter of at University today on the edge of the zone and I'm pretty certain I didn't enter but the website for paying doesn't appear to tell you if you entered or not. It seems to be a £0, £9 or £60 gamble.

If you have the timeline enabled on Google maps, you should be able to find out the exact route you took and then check if you entered or not.I was dropping my daughter of at University today on the edge of the zone and I'm pretty certain I didn't enter but the website for paying doesn't appear to tell you if you entered or not. I'm not sure if that's strictly true. Birmingham told me I didn't owe anything when I went to Aston University and TfL told me I had to pay the CC when i dropped my youngest off at Uni.We came off the M5 at junction 17 and travelled to the centre. She lives near the coop at the top of St Michael's Hill, near Clarence Place which is definitely outside the zone. However we were looking to buy some shelves so travelled to a Screwfix nearby, then with all the excitement of driving in a 20 zone we missed her road and looped round a few times. I remember seeing green cloud signs but I'm reasonably certain I didn't enter.
I'm happy () to pay the £9 if I went in but I buggered if I'm paying £9 if I didn't, as they don't give refunds.
What would be nice is a quick online check.

only the very bottom of St Michael's hill is in the zone so it slightly depends on where you went! if the Screwfix was the one on White Ladies road (seems like a normal high street shop with no specific parking) then you are probably okay - if you went through the centre to find a screwfix then probably not!

Can you access your timeline on Google Maps, or do you use Life360? You can see where you've been on this.
Thread about it in the computer section at the moment. Doesn't sound very good. https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

I filled out their online form asking if I entered the zone so we will see what happens. I reckon there is a legal loophole there - they can't (shouldn't be able to) prosecute you if they can't tell you.
