Yellow box junction london PCN
Discussion
Guys will I get a ticket I was turning right and stopped at a box junction inside. Thought it was clear then moved and it wasn't bike came zooming through so had to stop again and then followed by cars. So I was blocking the oncoming lane slightly they still went past me but got a few dirty looks. Am I likely to get a fine for this as I was turning right. Wish I just waited until it was completely clear and their lights changed red . Defo cctv on this junction

Nobody know whether you will get a fine. You'll have to just wait and see.manchester12345 said:

If you were turning right, you should not get a penalty. Highway code been read ?
You should be alright as it sounds like you were the lead vehicle turning right, yes? With that being 100% legal and you not causing an accident or any real danger by getting the turn wrong, I don't see how you can be fined.
Sadly, does not mean you won't be! But I think your chances of being OK are high, not least if you were the leading vehicle turning right.

London is normally pretty reasonable for overturning incorrectly issued box junction fines, even if you do get one. I know 2 people locally to me who have had they fines overturned for issues in a junction local to me. And they weren't even turning right, but had stopped in the junction when they were going straight ahead. But the key was, their exit was clear when they entered the junction. But it's a long rectangular box, with 3 lanes, and people are buggers for entering, seeing they can't get out, so swapping lanes, swerving in front and stealing your intended exit space.
You can stop in a box junction if not turning right, providing your exit was clear when you entered. Because the alternative is crashing into the back of the idiot who is now in your exit space.

I am probably very wrong (reading the highway code was 33 years ago for me), but lead vehicle or not, if you can't get out of the yellow box, should you go in it at all? Here is the Highway Code Rule 174. This states: “You must not enter the box until your exit road or lane is clear. However, you may enter the box and wait when you want to turn right, and are only stopped from doing so by oncoming traffic, or by other vehicles waiting to turn right.
It does make it sound like the leading vehicle has no worries at all. A little cryptic re those behind the lead vehicle, as your lane is now not clear due to the leading vehicle 'blocking' it.
