Hi,

Has anyone been prosecuted for using a mobile while being passed by police.

The vehicle was a camera van on opposite side while in solid traffic.

Don’t expect sympathetic responses here.

I don’t know the answer to your question.

Plenty of people, they now have dedicated cameras looking for these offenses.

Under the scheme, drivers would receive warning letters from the police reminding them that they face fines of up to £500 for not wearing a seatbelt, with penalty points and potential £1,000 fines for those using a phone in a non hands-free capacity.

Yep seen one of those vans on the A483 at Wrecsam, had to be the Welsh using it. It even said in massive writing down the side that it was detecting speed, seat belts and mobile use.

Bit vague.

You were in solid traffic?
The camera van was moving in traffic going the other way?

If so my guess would be you'll hear nothing.

Yes you can. Majority of excess speed limit offences are dealt with in that way.
The NIP is in the paperwork you receive.

Yes these were the circumstances, the missus noticed then coming as it was a tight heavily congested road and I put the phone down just as they started to pass.

I was selecting maps and selecting where my next bank holiday doom was to be route wise.

The van was also a speed camera van so i wasn't convinced it was even deemed as on duty?

I asked if you were looking for a map on your phone while you were driving. I fail to see how my visual acuity is relevant.
Maybe it was just deflection.

So were you actually looking for maps on your phone while driving?

I think some are civilians but I doubt it makes much difference as far as you're concerned. If I were you I'd forget about it.
