Is it true that many of these courses are taught by retired or off-duty police officers?

Use of the word "Scamera" is one for the "Things That Annoy You Beyond Reason" thread !

There clearly aren't enough cameras and traffic patrols given the proportion of speeding vehicles, particularly in urban environments.

I'm currently one of three PCs on traffic today for my force.

We are all at one crash.

There isn't enough. But it's the same in all departments.

I think many people would use the word scam because the camera are there, ostensibly, for safety reasons.

From what I have seen the traffic police need way more resource to catch DUI & using mobiles while driving offenders they should concentrate on those first & foremost as so many clearly driving like that right nowI! Its shocking how little resource they have right now.......

Perhaps if the money from cameras was invested in road policing more people would be acceptable of them, but it is not, and disappears into black holes of waste, like everything else aimed at making those who own car pay for the privelage.

Driving on gas, weed or coke is rife, so is phone use, from a lofty perch in a truck, I see it so often, far more than I see the Lesser Spotted Traffic cop.

Can go from London to Scotland, and back again, and not see a single marked car and have done.

Policing is reactive, not preventative, as the Ofiicer has stated, all 3 traffic cops at one incident, reacting to it, while the rest do as they wish with no actual road polcing, probably county wide by the sounds of it.

Nothing will change though, the country is bankrupt in real terms, there is no money to improve anything.

Or the limits are too low if the majority are speeding...

If the limits are set unreasonably below the natural speed for a particular road, then it is not a surprise that many will continue driving up to the natural speed.

What about average speed cameras where speed limit is reduced for air quality?

Seems like it's far safer to be ratted whilst driving then. Much less chance of having an accident. smile

The only fools are those that don't see any problem at all with limits reducing around the country whilst speed cameras rise up.
