A neighbour has recently started to bring his work HGV home at night. He parks on the residential street, with houses on both sides. He also drives it like he’s stole it, but that’s another matter.

The vehicle is a tractor unit with a double decker vehicle transporter, and an additional double decker trailer - tonight, for example, it has 9 brand new cars on the back. The tractor unit is parked in his small driveway, with the connected trailer parked across the pavement, on to the road, and across the neighbour’s driveway and dropped kerb. It’s also on a steep hill, on a bend, and due to the width of the road, cars can only just pass if driven slowly and carefully.

What’s the legality of this type of parking, considering the size of the vehicle and location?
This is dying for a photo…

Wtf no way.

I thought unless they're out working hgv's had to return to the Base listed their o licence.

Also if you are willing to maybe contact his company and ask why they allow the vehicle to be parked there, drivers have been sacked for booking a night out but taking the vehicle home.

Looks like ECM they're a fairly big outfit if I'm not mistaken so you might have some traction there.

Bloody Hell!

Does it have any company signage on? Maybe a call would get it sorted?

It's a proper eyesore! No wonder you are razzed off about it!

Also the bib might take an interest as its parked across a footpath. The selfish moron

Wow. You’d have to say that’s unreasonable. Is this for real?!

It will be in breach of the company's operators licence.

There are some O Licence exemptions / leniency for recovery trucks but pretty sure a transporter full of new cars wouldn't get them.

What is the estimated value of that lot?

If you post the address on a few social media sites it might not be there in the morning.

That’s not real, surely? Nobody could possibly be that stupid/antisocial and think nothing will come of it.

Ha ha no, that's a driver swinging the lead. It's ECM, I'd be on the phone to them tomorrow, pointing out their o licence spcifies operating centres where the trucks live & your road isn't one of them. Cheek of it!

Complain to the traffic commissioner, they will take great interest and make life unpleasant for the driver and the O licence holder. Utter nonsense having an HGV parked on a residential street.

A few quick ones for starters.

"You must not park an HGV on a verge, pavement or on land separating carriageways unless you’ve been given permission by the police"

"If you’re parking at night on a road, you must use the parking lights on your vehicle"

That guy is taking the piss to a whole new level hehe

I wouldn't get hold of the Traffic commisioner (haulage industry regulator) as an opener, it's a sledgehammer to crack a nut. ECM are a reputable company. the odds are one driver is taking the rise rather than it being sanctioned by the firm. I'd call them & ask them to stop. If they don't then, the TC will act but fair to give them a chance to fix it first.

That’s ridiculous laugh I drive hgv’s and there no way I’d be taking that home and parking like that.
As others have mentioned I’d be onto the firm it’s a big outfit there’s not a chance they’ll accept that, drivers probably booking a night out but sneaking home.
Or if you want to cause real issues contact the traffic commissioner, worst thing for any firm is having him on your case.

They look like Nissans?

I am guessing you are north east based probably not far from the Nissan factory.
