"We are aware some motorcyclists may have been issued Low Emission Zone Enforcement Notices following the initial launch in Aberdeen," a statement said.

"We can confirm that motorcyclists are exempt from the Low Emission Zone and we apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.

"Any motorcycle that has received a notice can request its cancellation online."

The council said it was not yet able to confirm the number of motorcyclists involved.

My question is: Why the f**k does anyone wrongly fined have to request cancellation? Shirley they should be picking up the manpower?

I think any Council/LA or Private Parking Company who wrongly tickets someone should be liable for the amount they are seeking to charge.

You're clearly very angry about this. Presumably you're a motorcyclist living in Aberdeen?

So you are happy for private companies, councils and the state to throw out fines like confetti and then have you running around wasting your time getting them cancelled?

Not the kind of society I want to live in. If there were a financial risk to them making a mistake, they might actually introduce systems and procedures that work.

Eggsactly this. You have confidence in your fining system or you the LA/PPC face the financial penalty for getting it so badly wrong and not doing the job that you are paid to do.

Non-motorcyclist living in Kent. biggrin

Well said!

Same goes for people who get speeding tickets for cloned plates etc. the amount of hassle this is for them beggars belief.

It is better that ten guilty motorists are not fined than that one innocent motorcyclist is harassed.

I would just ignore them and if they are dumb enough to go all the way to court turn up and say you knew they didn't apply so didn't bother replying. Someone else's stupidity isn't down to me to sort out, i have enough of my own to deal with.
