I think I know the answer to this but I was wondering what law is there that gets me a free drink on my birthday?

The reason I ask is that when I was recently out for an evening meal, I tried to connect to the free WiFi in the restaurant. Obviously they wanted my email/phone number etc, but stated that it was the law, so they had to ask.

Not sure what law however. beerbeer

It will be an alcoholic birthday drink.
Therefore you need to be 18

It's the law that requires your permission for them to send you spam, including amongst other things a free drink voucher (otherwise the internet would short out if they sent a real drink over the web).

Might be deserving of a Whoosh.... rofl

I think it’s cleverly worded.

They require the name phone number and email address in exchange for their free WiFi, as they are able to.

They presumably can’t send free alcohol offers to under 18s and so need your date of birth to comply with that particular law? Assuming there is one, feels like there would be.
