That's a serious number.
Anyone on here care to own up?

Whoever it is will be concerned.
Speed on it's own is enough to be 'Dangerous' in the land of Haggis and the punishments are serious. I knew someone who lost his license for 3 years after 130mph on the M74.
Offence: *Dangerous driving
Imprisonment: 2 years
Fine: Unlimited
Disqualification Obligatory
Penalty points: 3-11 (if exceptionally not disqualified)

I think that if they "only" lose their license, and get a wacking great fine - they will count themselves very very lucky..Speed on it's own is enough to be 'Dangerous' in the land of Haggis and the punishments are serious. I knew someone who lost his license for 3 years after 130mph on the M74.

142mph on an A Road takes some committment, its not a case of "Goodness me Officer, was I?"

Indeed, he is certainly in for more than a slap on the wrist
A quick google search suggests that in Scotland a driver caught at 140 mph may expect 4-9 months immediate custody, disqualification 18m-5 years, a mandatory extended retest, and potential forfeiture of his vehicle. agtlaw said:

I live near where the person was caught. The locals are all foaming at the mouth, especially when the police announced it was a non local in a Porsche on their FB page...
The road in that section has several long, clear, well sighted straights and the weather was good. I'm not one for driving quickly but 142 is not necessarily unsafe in that car, they were just unlucky to get caught. They also did better than the DB9 that I saw stuffed into a rock face the week before!

I have no issue with speed but 142mph on this kind of road is a little silly imho.

Pick the straight section of your preference and then count how many side roads access it.
How many of those people pulling out would be expecting a car they see far off in the distance, to be approaching them at more than double the speed limit.

Plus other hazards-animals,cyclists. I wonder what it would feel like as a cyclist to have a car pass at 140mph on a single carriageway road like that one? Quite exciting I would think. Even if it was going the other way.https://maps.app.goo.gl/aHpNpKXXyaLrMZDL7
