Here is the deal, the MOT has expired on the Tiv, and I want to take it to an MOT station of my choice. I know you can drive to and from an MOT station without an MOT. Is there any rules on how near/far you can go, ie is it the nearest one you need to take it to? Say you wanted to take it 30 miles or so to an MOT station, and you got pulled in the process. (Especially when there was an MOT tester within a mile of home) What would happen?

As far as I have been told, as long as its booked in and legit. Also the car was SORN at the time and told its OK as long as I drive straight to and from the testing station.

You can take it wherever you like as long as you take the most direct route and dont make any detours en-route

The car has not actually had an MOT for several years now, and I bought it 10 months ago and registered it in my name. I have not filled out a SORN since owning the car, and not sure if the previous owner did or not. I guess I need to visit the PO for one of these forms. Will I get into bother for waiting 10 mths without either tax or SORN?

They will probably just ask you to pay a fine (£30 or so I think)
