I've heard of people giving false details in reply to a NIP but I had no idea that here was a whole industry dedicated to it. Police in Cornwall have arrested a number of people in relation to a "NIP farm".

60 officers! To a a ring supplying false details for speed tickets, yet they have no police for various crimes and D&C is under performance management last heard due to failing inspection. Reminds of me a certain labour MP and her brother, who got caught using our Russian flat mate scam!
Blimey goes to show there are plenty of police resources if it fits their agenda and fine collection activities for their partnerships and central gov.
Where are they going to lock up these dangerous farmers! Rapist and Burglars are being let off custodial sentences as the prison system is now at capacity!

On Instagram, there are often adverts hidden as stories for things like this, another example were jab passports.
Especially with migrants I think this has been around a long time - someone I worked with 15 odd years ago used to brag that staff at his dad’s restaurant always take his points for £50

You have Clearly not read the linked article, do you think modern slavery offences are not worth investigating? The NIPs are only one element.Blimey goes to show there are plenty of police resources if it fits their agenda and fine collection activities for their partnerships and central gov.

I suspect there’d have been the heavy mob to go in first and arrest the scum, then others to take them away to custody, and then the scene investigators. Anyone who thinks the are above the law should feel it’s full weight.
But some are stuck in the Dixon of Dock Green era.
I've read the links but still can't see how it works.
if I got a NIP how could I give a random name and address to the NIP request for drivers details.
How would the randomly supplied (paid for) person be insured to drive my car etc or would I report the car stolen and the stooge admits to nicking it?

I suspect the issuing authority only want the name and address of whoever was supposedly driving the car and aren't bothered about anything else.if I got a NIP how could I give a random name and address to the NIP request for drivers details.

And there's me with my police leadership background reading they've executed 11 warrants, searched 12 premises - residential and commercial, arrested processed and interviewed 6 people for conspiracy (about as complex an investigation you'll get), 1 for modern slavery and all the safeguarding to victims that comes from that and then the immigration matters for 2 people in custody with only 60 officers. How many would you recommend it be done with?Blimey goes to show there are plenty of police resources if it fits their agenda and fine collection activities for their partnerships and central gov.

Not sure how it relates to the trafficking, but the idea is that an indentity is stolen, including driving licence number. This is then sold to the keeper to be submitted as the offender on the NIP. The victim then obtains points, bans etc and has to prove they weren't driving.if I got a NIP how could I give a random name and address to the NIP request for drivers details.

Feels like only 58 were needed....can't the police do anything right??IJWS15 said:

This is it. There seems to have been some high level of various criminality here. Anyone who thinks the are above the law should feel it’s full weight.

Ironically, this suggests that the police are doing a very good job. What is the mechanism that allows this to work?
The fraudsters respond to the NIP and provide the victims name and the victims drivers licence number but presumably they use a made up home address so that the victim will be unaware of any activity. The courts happily process the offence using the information provided. Eventually DVLA chases the victim using their address as recorded for their driving licence.
The above is despite the fact that the real transgressor was originally contacted using the vehicle keeper name and address which was obtained from DVLA.
The victim receives a ban and their driving licence is invalid. The victim might ultimately be proven innocent but they cannot continue to drive because their driving licence is invalid which causes their insurance to be invalid.
