Is this anything to worry about?

Went through the M4 between J4-J3 earlier this evening. Overhead speed limit clearly changed from 40 to 60 so as I went under the gantry I gently accelerated from approx 40 to 56mph but noticed the cameras double flash after I appeared over side of the gantry.

I know with 100% certainty it was 60 as I went under the gantry & looked at my speedo I was only doing 56mph (so probably slightly less in real world speed terms) as I emerged from the other side.

Does anyone know why it double flashed (I have seen this happen on M25 also sometimes the camera's double flash).

Test cycle?

If you are the RK, and the address on the V5 is correct, you will know in 2 weeks.

The cameras take photos including the gantry so that the actual limit displayed at the time is known, so you should be ok if it's some sort of triggering error and not just a test cycle.

Same thing happened to my OH on the M1 last month. Not heard anything as yet, I'd be surprised if you do to be honest.

Some seem to be set to randomly flash - I regularly see flashes on the M23 when cars are passing by within the speed limit.

Ok thanks everyone nothing to worry about then I hope! I know I was well within limits. I often see M25 lights do this as well even when vehicles are travelling at low speed.....! Must be a calibration thingy!

So you have given the time, date and location to them already. If only they knew what model and what year of the car you drove.

Should be ok!

I was well within limits so not concerned tbh just could not understand why it double flashed when I was 56 in a 60!

Anything ever come of this? I had similar last night the gantry changed from a 50 to national speed limit as i approached it. I saw about 5 flashes after I'd driven passed. I was deffo going under 70 but I couldn't see anyone else speeding either. I've saved my dash cam footage just in case.

I used to see this quite often on the M62 near Leeds - all four lanes going the same speed but well below the limit and flash! Very random.

Cheers, hopefully it will come to nothing then. Even though I know I did nothing wrong I don't fancy a battle to prove it.

Nope nothing ever happened to me still see the double flashes now & again seems like a calibration test...although seen vehicles going through on the M25 way faster than NSL traffic & the cameras flashing like a xmas tree!
