Police and Security "Auditers"

I've probably missed any previous conversations about this, but only really seen this kind of video activity recently, where someone films around police buildings and property seemingly to goad officers into confrontation, with a particular emphasis on getting them to over react or behave inappropriately.
Some "auditers" seem more provocative than others. None of them seem to have any particular interest in what they're filming, other than to get a reaction from the police or security services. Some of them seem to have a substantial online following on the usual social media channels.
Do you see them as performing valuable work in probing the powers and responses of the police towards the public, or just a plain nuisance? Personally it seems to be a waste of the time of both the "auditer" and the police themselves. That said, seeing different police personalities and approaches is surprisingly interesting.
My guess is that the people doing these videos have had run ins with the law in the past and/or negative experiences, and are in their own way, trying to exact revenge or at least what they see as pressure on what they assume is an organisation with too much power and authority. I'm sure there are more effective ways to campaign than winding up officers, fun as they may see it.

They don't provide any public service, they are usually people with previous run ins with the Police who probably have a criminal record for something fairly petty and feel they have been treated unjustly so they try and get themselves known as an auditor through social media
Showing us how unhinged and badly informed some coppers are is helpful.Never had any bad encounters with the police. In fact my favourite one was one New Years Eve, parked in a remote spot with my 15 year old girl friend (now my long-suffering wife)

Had one of these approach me a few months back whilst I was working at a site, I didn't entertain him, he was asking about my vehicle.
He's cut it out of the video (on YouTube), but my vehicle is still in there. Yes, I did go looking.
After he'd spoken to me he disappeared on his bike, and then the police turned up. Told them he'd been here but had disappeared, hadn't seen which way but what he was wearing, they left and he turned up again, did a quick ride through and buggered off again, and that was that.
I think was surprised me the most was the fact that, from memory, he seemed quite a young guy, but having seen his YouTube channel he's quite popular.
I agree with what's been written so far though, I think the world would be a better place without them doing it.

One live free had 90k subs, now locked up for alleged domestic violence. has a string of convictions as long as your arm, yet all the corrupt police's fault.
One used to hide in bushes outside police station in a balaclava waiting for an interaction. now he has a banning order from all police stations for aggravated trespass.
A few are looking at time for filming on an open prison.
They all seem to know the law yet don't.
There are a few interesting ones, focus pocus is pretty professional in interactions.
yes most are on benefits and think they are big stars, winding up the police. if the police ignored them they wouldn't get the videos they want.

If they're not causing a problem, going into private areas where they shouldn't be or obstructing vehicles then warn them not to get in the way and leave them to it.
On some videos, officers deal with them well, have a chat, warn them re all of the above points and move on.

Would you class pushing a camera through the gates of a prison into the vehicle lock a problem? That's something I observed with the one I've alluded to above, and it's in the video he posted. No need for him to do that, caused more harm than good. If they're not causing a problem, going into private areas where they shouldn't be or obstructing vehicles then warn them not to get in the way and leave them to it.

As others have said, generally unpleasant members of society with prior convictions who have difficulty taking responsibility for their actions. That said, the police that rise up to them are sometimes problematic but imo it's a minority. Glad this 'hobby' on the decline.
It is interesting seeing the occasional police/security interaction with genuine street photographers though.

Depends though, had a bad day, someone standing in your face shouting pig,sausage, masked up, you have been told by upper brass to investigate, what to do, they are human after all. Not exactly exposing corruption as they always say.There is one, DJ Audits, quite big on youtube, he does a lot of businesses and some have review bombing etc.
Funny thing is he owns a business and does all he can to protect his privacy. Double standards.
Auditing Britain got quite aggressive against someone who filmed him, is extremely sexiest and treats women coppers with disdain, it is pretty overt. He is the UKs biggest auditor.
A.B or Auditing Britain had a really stand out police interaction - 'The Four Numpeteers of Uxbridge' or something - a spontaneous interaction which does not do the police any favours....it is shocking, cringeworthy and unbelievable in equal measure.
Watch this then, and tell us all why the behaviour of these 'officers' (yes, really, they are...) should not be highlighted.
