Where can I find the accident history...
Discussion
Surely you can just look at the sites of speed cameras. If there is a speed camera then of course there will have been a long accident history which has now dropped.
Failing that, I think you can write to the Transport Department and also scan the web, I think the AA or someone have a list too.

ISTR that these are a closely guarded secret which the DoT, Police and local councils are not obliged to reveal to you.
Whether this is true or not I don't know but when it comes to loging an objection to a proposed speed camera sighting or speed limit change, this information has ben refused to those logding objections..
A legal challenge is required AFAIK.

There are some pretty comprehensive stats here:
www.transtat.dft.gov.uk/roadsafe/
Check out the publications section and follow the link to Road Casualties in Great Britain; Main Results 2001 Data. This goes through to another report buried within which is a table of accidents by Police Force Region.
You can also link out to the International Road Traffic and Accident Database. I checked out the figures for France. Identical population size, almost three times the length of public roads, a few million more vehicles but TWO AND A HALF TIMES the number of road fatalities as the UK. And we thought we had problems.
