Shock New Limits?

The Evening Standard reckons that lower speed limits are about to imposed across the country. An article published today suggests that new guidance is being issued that will force limits to be lowered around the UK with 30mph restrictions dropped to 20mph and some 60mph limits dropped as low at 40mph.

I'm not sure what's more scary, the fact that they are lowering limits or the amount of people on the This Is London web site discussion who agree with it.

This truly must be a joke, it's fine for some Londoner to propose a 40mph limit instead of 60mph but if you're driving down a wide open empty road in Scotland, it's an entirely different story.

I'm going to move to Cornwall and encourage them to claim independence from the rest of the UK. Everyone has obviously gone raving mad. I blame these reality TV shows, I reckon they contain subliminal messages.

I'm not going to drive around at 40 in a 60 limit. Looks like i'll be having false plates to avoid tickets if it comes to that.

As if the Police are going to be able to enforce this. What about all the housewives in their 4x4s and people carriers - they don't obey the speed limits now, never mind lower limits.

Yet more rubbish to fill the paper/news programme.

This is already happening in Derbyshire, you dont hit a NSL between Nottingham and Matlock unless you go off the main A roads.

Its mad

Main A road with good visibility used to be NSL and now 40/50 limit with double white line.

Soon everyone will have to buy a red flag to give to the person who will walk in front of your car to warn everyone that you're there.

DOH!! They already tried that and it didn't work!

Don't forget that the IOM is part of the UK which makes me think ......if speed kills over here what does it do there? can useful comparisons etc be made to show a point?
