It’s been said many times on the BB, if people drove according to prevailing conditions then accident rates would probably fall. It’s not speed, rather inappropriate driving that is really the culprit; 30mph outside of a School is not appropriate.
If I was transport minister:
I would Pedestrianise roads outside of schools (and any other area where cars ought to slow down). Cars then have to drive slowly because they are entering the pedestrian’s domain rather than people having to walk quickly when crossing the car’s domain.
If I was transport minister:
I'd force the entire bus fleet to update its engines to produce less in the way of noxious fumes...try following one of them with the roof off.
And those stupid unsafe fences that Hampshire are putting up to stop you seeing oncoming traffic whilst joining roundabouts would be made ILLEGAL on SAFETY grounds!
