John, help needed...AGAIN !
Discussion
Driving home in my shiny new red toy and right outside my house, 2 little b**tards on a scooter come carreering around a bend on my side of the road and crash into me.
They were about to ride off, but thought better of it and stopped. They readily gave over names, addresses and tel numbers. I suspected these were false & called the police who told me that they couldn''t do anything as nobody was injured.
I have the registration but nobody (police or insurance co) seem interested in finding these people??
What can I do, as at the moment, I''m stuck with paying a £500 excess and losing my car for 3 weeks! Also, surprise surprise, the telephone number is never answered and there doesn''t seem to be any response from that address.
If no one is injured it is generally left to you + the ins co to sort. You can also write to the fee paying section of DVLA outlining what you have already said and ask for details of the registered keeper. Other than that, not much else you can do, its a crap system basically and needs sorting.

What would happen if you claimed to be injured? A bit of whip lash or something - not so you can do a claim, just so that the Police turn up, would the police object or have any grounds for waisting their time? Surely if they had given false names then it would not be a waste of police time??

Yes I did, it worked great last year when I got hit by a bus! this time however, they will only try to chase these people after sending 3 letters, 3 weeks apart!
I phoned this morning to see what was happening and was told that they weren't sure, but would try to ring me, "either today or sometime over the next week..or something!"
They are bloody useless. next time my premium is due, I'll pay it either today or sometime over the next week..or something!
