racing is a bit hard to prove isn't it? tell us more... you haven't exactly given a lot of detail (or did you in a previous posting? if so, give us a link).

Racing is very easy to prove actually. All you have to do is produce the Autovision tape at court or explain that the two cars were side by side or one behind the other extending every gear to the limit and travelling close to each other etc.

The best way to find out is to contact the Administration of Justice Department in the area that you were stopped and give them your full details and the date of the alleged offence. Having done so, ask them if there is any record of a summons being issued aginst you and if so for which offences. You will know within a few minutes if you face impending doom.

( I would think that if you have heard nothing by now and you haven't been deliberately hiding or moving address a lot then you can probably relax)

spoke to frikkin soon, came yesterday. The policemen originally reported to do me for dangerous driving, no insurance and racing on a highway but im not been done for dangerous driving phew. it was side by side along a quiet industrial estate road at 11:45. i was on the proper side of the road. You think my mate can get done for dangerous? i not spoke to him yet.

Also is it really a minimum of 12 months disqualification if found guilty? if ive not been driving for 2 years will i get a 12 month dq and my licsenses revoked?

The fact that both of you were racing, caught on CCTV (clever that) and admitted it means you are both likely to face the same charges / penalties.

As posted before you knew your insurance would be void if you were racing, so you've not helped yourself there either.

As an inexperienced driver you are likely to be shafted for future insurance when you get your licence back after disqualification and a retest, just make sure you learn from it.

Just out of interest, you say it was an industrial estate road, was it the public highway? Just curious.

and before you condemn the bloke out of hand, there are LOTS of industrial estates that people could drag up and down, late at night and not really put anyone at any real risk (except for inexperience trying too hard and all that). I accept it's likely they didnt ensure there wasn't anyone else coming into the estate or whatever, but assuming it was like doing 100 along the North Circular is a trifle harsh in light of limited facts...?!

dammit i meant WASNT...not WAS - obviously!!

Nightmare, don't know what planet you're on, but surely even you realise that racing at illegal speeds round an industrial estate at any time of day is not as safe as doing 100mph on the North Circular (unless this is during the rush hour gridlock!!!).

Simple advice - buy insurance, don't speed, don't get convicted. One less nutter on the roads is good news. You can have enormous fun on the roads driving within the legal limits. Most speeding morons are incapable of driving at any speed round a corner or roundabout, that's why most of them end up decapitated in hedges.

Sorry everyone if that's a bit graphic but I just happen to feel strongly about this.

You deserve more than just a ban,

My best friend has just been to the Funeral of the wife of someone on his watch (he is a Fireman), the husband is lying in hospital with both legs amputated.

The reason, two idiots racing on the public highway side by side

It makes you sick, both young inexperienced drivers.
Both going to jail for a long time.

Im sorry I was harsh.

How about - Zeroprobe, you are an idiot for racing on the public roads. Please change your name to Zerobrains and promptly take a short walk off a long cliff before you end up hurting someone.

If you want to drive 'fast' go on track and time yourselves, but dont race as you will end up taking me or sonmeone else off with your fast driving skills.

Nightmare - you are not correct. It is not acceptable to race on a public road at any time or place. Im surprised as someone with your experience and previous good posts suggest its ok.

I hope to God I dont 'bump' into Zerobrains or his mates maxed up Novcorsa's at 11/10th when Im going to or from work late at night as i sometime have to go via an industrial estate.

I sincerely hope Zerobrains you dont end up wraped around a lamp post but sooner that then into some poor innocent person.
Make a life decision, save your own life - drive carefully and more sensibly, dont race, cos you are not going to make it very far at the moment.

You condemn, before you know the whole story. He said he was on a deserted road. Get off your high horse & get your fact right.

Hey, I race sometimes. SO what. I'm the loser if I crash. Get real.

I'm not suggesting we all go out and go racing on the public highway right now, but can all you who are condemning this guy honestly state that...

a) you have never broken any speed limits - ever?

b) never had a race of any descrption with anyone ever on a public highway?

...I agree that It'd be a great deal better if we got this outta our system on a circuit rather than on the road.

Some of you are being far too harsh without knowing what kind of ability, road conditions etc there were on the night. You could be right of course, and he could be a MAX POWER boy - in which case - he's better off the road. - sorry to all those MAX POWER readers who don't fit into the stereotype!

I worked in accident investigation for 4 years in total, and have in my time scraped blood, guts and on one occasion bits of what was once brain off my trousers having checked out the wreck of a car that had been hit at 6am by a guy who was racing. Chap was in his mid 30s, wife and kids at home and was driving to work same time as he'd done evry day of his life for years when he was hit broadside by someone that figured it was safe to do that speed at 6 am on a quiet road.

If you want to race, do it on a track. Do not, ever do it on a road.

Hmm a certain number of inconsistances, not to mention the emotive "speed", there.............
