Both vast areas. Both have nice and nasty neighbourhoods. Both have a mix of urban, suburban and in the case of Essex, rural areas.

What an absolutely silly thing to say.

Perma tans and slicked side partings aside, much of Essex is very nice and well positioned for commuting into London. It has its bad bits too like anywhere else.
